I did a search and found an issue with an air brush. But not a can. Unless it's under a hit word I'm not tried. I've been using Duplicolor Primer now but have a problem. When I spray the primer. It will spray and then start to spatter. And it drips on the floor. as I'm spraying.  Anyone know why it's doing this? Room temp is around 70 degrees.

I have had some issues with the nozzles on some cans,... I take a working one (clean) from another can and swap them out. Right now my gloss clear nozzle is running my clear, my black sandable and my grey sealer primer...

Just remember to clean after use.

It can also be a problem with the valve inside the can. I've had some that would spit no matter if I cleaned or even replaced the nozzles with brand new ones.

Try smacking the bottom of the can on something to dislodge clogs, and then shake the absolute dog-snot out of it.

I've cleared a few this way, but I've ended up just having to discard others (or decant).

OK. This is the 2nd can to do this.

If you can, check to see if they are from the same lot. If so, it could be a manufacturing issue, like Bill mentioned about the valve inside the can.

I recommend going to another store, or see if you can get one that's not from the same lot when you take the can back.

Unfortunately I threw the other one away. But I didn't buy them from the same parts store.

Shaking the can thoroughly is more important than ever.  The paint companies (all of them, not picking on Duplicolor here) are probably changing, or being forced to change, everything about the product.  They seem to be putting less "solids" and more "carrier" (solvent) into the can (likely to make the product cheaper to manufacture), and have probably been forced to change propellant at some point.  So, where the old product was more tolerant to settling and less-than-thorough shaking in the past, the new, "improved" product isn't so tolerant of the same treatment.

Thank you to all of you for some insight as to what is the problem. I'll start with a long shake.

If you have a dehydrator you could try putting the cans in there to warm them. I started doing that this winter and it definitely makes a difference.

I don’t have one but do have a hair dryer from the 70’s I could warm the can with. I thought 70’s temp would be fine but i’ll Try that.

I've been using Tamiya primer the last few years as my go -to primer and haven't had any problems. I don't even warm the can up as I only do that for my color & clear coats. All the decanting I do is from the can to the car body or parts and it works for me.
