Pete68 Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 I built this back around 1988 the years have took its toll on it. I’ve lost several pieces it stayed in my mom and dad‘s house for many years before I retrieved it my Mom and Dad both smoked very heavy and it has bad nicotine damage to the paint and decals so I’ve decided to rebuild it. A friend of mine called the “Junkman” who came to shows in St. Louis for many years helped get the parts I needed to build it back in 1988. He long has passed away but it was always a treat to visit his house and go down to the basement and stand in all and look at those old model kits and “Junk” so this build I’m dedicating it to him. Thanks for the memories Charlie. 1
espo Posted July 21, 2019 Posted July 21, 2019 Looks like a fun build and a good way to remember someone special.
Pete68 Posted July 21, 2019 Author Posted July 21, 2019 Thanks David that day in his basement he gave me this cool box to put my parts in he was a great guy 1
stavanzer Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 I'll be following this build. I have a pair of these kits, in the Chevy Version. I'd like to convert one to a GMC.
Lordmodelbuilder Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 Love the old Jimmys & Blazers! I built the Bushwhacker as a kid. It's in terrible shape but will get rebuilt. Looking forward to your rebuild pics!
Modlbldr Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 I've got a couple of these as rebuilders myself. I'll be watching also. Can't wait to see what you do with yours. Later-
Pete68 Posted July 12, 2020 Author Posted July 12, 2020 Well it been almost a year since I’ve done anything to this but I did get it repainted and I ordered a hood off of eBay that didn’t fit so with lots of re working the the hood I got it as good as it’s going to get
dragcarz Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 (edited) I was wondering if you’d be interested in a stock hood from a Blazer kit, I have an extra if you need it. I like what your doing here, great work so far. Early Baja vehicles are really cool. I’d love to do a replica of Steve McQueens Truck from way back when. Keep at it I’d love to see it completed! PM me, if your interested. Edited August 15, 2020 by dragcarz Spelling 1
Pete68 Posted June 27, 2021 Author Posted June 27, 2021 Re-Visited this build today. I removed the gauges and interior details. Painted the dash, interior tub, and hood today. 1
Modlbldr Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 That's some good progress. Still watching to see what you do with this. I still haven't done anything with my rebuilders. Later- 1
Pete68 Posted June 28, 2021 Author Posted June 28, 2021 Thanks for the complement Tom. I hope to have some more updates tonight 1
Pete68 Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 It’s been a very long time since I had this on the bench. Today I dug it out and I was really never happy with the Beige paint job so I repainted it a Deep Blue. I also had been working on getting the engine to fit into the frame I think I finally got it. Hope to have more updates soon. 1
