Claude Thibodeau Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 Hi! Attending Bonneville is on my bucket list. In the meantime, trough my Flat Earth Society fleet of vehicles, I keep my fantasy alive! Revell's Vette Agin, with a scratchbuilt chassis/platform derived from the Hay's TBird. Molded body, custom tonneau cover and glass canopy, detailed trunk, cabin & engine compartment, with scracthbuilt gas tank, pumps, rear mounted radiator, etc. Fully wired and plumbed. Custom made decals and wheel discs. Finish is Tamya's lacquers, with Testor's Wetlook clear. Remain calm! I know it's a Chevy with a Ford engine.... Evens out the field of Ford bodied cars with small block Chevy engines, doesn't it? Hours of fun with styrene! CT 2
cobraman Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 WoW! Another beauty ! And the hits just keep on coming !
crossfire 2004 Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 That’s fantastic Claude ! The detailing is superb and it looks ready for the salt. You really should try to visit Bonneville - I’ve made the pilgrimage twice from the U.K. and helped out on the Rolling Bones cars at the 60th event. Highly recommended.

Actually, it was NOT the intended color... I had started a fade from light yellow to dark red (front to back)... but my airbrush sputtered a few damning specks, and I canned it. A looming contest called for a "safer" paint job due to time constraints, so here it is. The color remains one of Tamya's great, so... I was blessed to have it appear in 2018's Contest cars. You never know! CT
Claude Thibodeau Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago Hi! I was surprised yesterday at the Sherbrooke model show, receiving 1st and 3rd place in the COMPETITION class with two (!?) of my Salt cars: !st with my CADIL-LAKE 59 Eldo streamliner (still visible on this forum), and 3rd with this old girl, my HOLY FLATS' PILGRIMS Corvette, built many moons ago. Two Bonneville cars on the podium at once is quite unusual, but much appreciated. Maybe the "times they are a'changing", ans Bob Dylan famously sang LOL. CT

Don't know why, but this update went in the WIP DRAG section. Maybe back when I posted the car here for the first time, I mistakenly filed it in this category, or the "other racing" was not a section yet? The Gods of Syrene have their way that us mortals can't control LOL. CT

CT Great work Claude, you really have a natural gift for this kind of racing car, it's always my favorite of your creations, I must have a weakness for speed and muscle! I was immediately surprised to see you in the WIP Drag Racing Models category and I realize it was a simple mistake, but that doesn't take away from the genius and passion that drives you! Perhaps one day we will have the honor of seeing your secret magic happen before our eyes in a WIP thread, who knows? 😊
bytownshaker Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I missed it when you first posted it. I truly admire your workmanship and regret not being able to make it to the Sherbrooke show and see your work in person. Have you ever thought about attending the shows in Gatineau and Ottawa?
