damodelguy az Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 friend gave me this vw promo body only that had a broken front fender. i had been to a show and seen one with the fenders removed and chopped. chopping one of these can get really tricky. decided to put a corvair engine. enjoy built middle of 2017
olschoolkid Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Very nice. I thought about doing something similar to the Revell 1968 VW kit, but I ended up changing my mind. I do want to build a Volksrod in the future though.
Koellefornia Kid Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 The top chop turned out very nice, looks cool! I also like the other projects on your workbench!
stitchdup Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Cool, I like the peak over the screen, not something I've seen on a chopped bug before and after seeing it I dont know why when it work so well
Tom Geiger Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 That is pretty cool! A good use for a broken body too! I have a few VW projects up in my unfinished project pile I need to get back to. This is inspiration!
OldTrucker Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Worked for a fella that had a VW repair business. One of his younger brothers had a 58 that he put a Porsche 6 into. That thing would lift the front wheels on a hard launch! Cool build!

That was just something I whittled up in an evening or two. I got frustrated with the Revell chassis and put it aside. It's on the list to finish.
zakdoggi Posted August 6, 2019 Posted August 6, 2019 Now that's cool. You nailed the shape. Well executed.
Chromecop Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Nice Volksrod with a bit of "dare to be different" look...
