RichCostello Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I'm trying Scale Motorsport interior decals and I thought that the pattern is supposed to let the color show through, but mine are just white, with a plaid pattern. Do you apply these like regular decals, or is there a trick that I don't know about? What am I doing wrong???
RichCostello Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 So, I guess nobody has ever used these.
Glen Powers Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Rich the ones I've used had the pattern printed on clear decal film. Yes they do go on like any other decal. Check the part number you have at the Scale Motorsports web site and look at the "details" for that sheet. That should clear it all up, good luck.

They laid down good and conformed well to the seat pattern. I was just under the impression that they were all on transparent paper. I guess I was mistaken.
StevenGuthmiller Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Some photos might help. I know that Scale Motorsports did some plaid pattern trunk liner decals. If those are the ones that you have, they are probably printed on white paper to look like a vintage trunk liner. They did some clear plaid upholstery decals as well. I used them on a '63 Ford pickup build and even though I chose to use them over white, they were printed on clear paper. Steve
RichCostello Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 Steve, the ones that I used look exactly like the seats in your Ford pickup, except I applied them over red painted seats. I've had these decals for a long time, but just got around to trying them. The label on them says "Clear pattern decals designed to be placed over any painted seating surface creating a seat pattern to coordinate with any color scheme".
Tom Geiger Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Neat! I have all the 1960-63 Ford pickups and have been itching to just crank them out. Maybe I'll use my decals like yours Steve!
RichCostello Posted August 8, 2019 Author Posted August 8, 2019 I looked on Scale Motorsport website and the picture of the decal sheet, with the same code # doesn't look the same as the one that I have, so somebody screwed up somewhere. I put in a question about it on their site, so I'll wait and see if I get an answer.

Misha Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 I've used their checkered decal over red paint for the seats of the interior of my 2016 Camaro.
89AKurt Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 (edited) I've used their decals on several projects. Put over GLOSS paint to avoid the silvering, then spray flat clear over decal. Edited August 9, 2019 by 89AKurt
