johnwitzke Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 My 1964 Dodge 330 Super Stock driven by Dick Landy is moving along. The 426 Race Hemi is taking shape, still detailing left to do. I really like the photo etch grill. Paint came out great, leaving as single stage to replicate the real car in 1964. Goal is to have completed in time for the Heartland Nationals in Bellevue NE Oct 5th.
High octane Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 Lookin' good so far as I just love dem B-body Mopars!
Scott8950 Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 Very nice, im working on one thats altered wheelbase.
johnwitzke Posted August 12, 2019 Author Posted August 12, 2019 That's cool. This car started as a normal Dodge 330 Super stock then the wheelbase was altered and became what some say was the first funny car. This static open to debate, but the changes were pretty radical.
johnwitzke Posted August 12, 2019 Author Posted August 12, 2019 (edited) I painted the intake black and the engine compartment will be black as well. I know the. restored car has a silver engine compartment and the intake manifold is orange, but back in the day, both were black. Edited August 12, 2019 by johnwitzke
Brutalform Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 (edited) Nice job on the screens to make those stacks look realistic. That grill looks 50 times better than the kit supplied piece. (Hemi with the inner light omitted.) I didn’t know there were PE parts for this car. I’ve accent washed mine with different acrylic paints, and it still looked horrible, so I just gave up. bytownshaker Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 John your doing an awesome job, the engine looks great. Edgar
johnwitzke Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 (edited) Getting closer. All that is left to do is decal the passenger side and install the rear bumper. Edited October 3, 2019 by johnwitzke
Brutalform Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Looks fantastic John. I really enjoy watching your builds.
johnwitzke Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 (edited) Thanks Tom. I like yours as well. So I have built Ford and Dodge Super Stocks, next up I think I will do a couple of Super Duty Pontiac's. I have 1963 Lemans coupe and Tempest wagon kits and the decals. I have been wanting to start these. Edited October 3, 2019 by johnwitzke
fordlover632 Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 How did you do the throttle links and what did you use to do it. I would like to do it to my amt t bucket for the 6 by 2 carbs.
johnwitzke Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 (edited) Thanks Jason.....keep going with yours (you're doing a great job!) as it represents the final version of the car I built. Edited October 4, 2019 by johnwitzke
johnwitzke Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 (edited) Two builds of two great Super Stock drivers cars, Dick Brannon and Dick Landy. Up next will be a Pontiac 421 Super Duty. Edited October 4, 2019 by johnwitzke

gtx6970 Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 (edited) I used the photo etched grille in one of my old builds. And I sure improves the front of the car so much better. BUT, keep in mind the moulding across the top of the grill is attached to the hood on the 1/1 car. So there will be no moulding across the top if the hood is up . Edited October 5, 2019 by gtx6970
