charlie8575 Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 With some reports I've read recently of SuperClean/Purple Power losing their oomph, I'm wondering about cleaning off a body I just purchased. Has anyone tried Simple Green on resin? It is a pretty good cleaner, and shouldn't bother the resin, but I'm wondering if anyone else has tried it? Charlie Larkin
espo Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 I personally would not use Super Clean in this application based on my personal experience. I say my experience since there may be others who have used it with no problems. I used Super Clean in an effort to strip a failed paint job. Within 24 hours the resin body I was striping turned to mush and there was no way to save it. This could have been to long of an exposure or something to do with the resin used. What I have used with no problems are two different products. Most often I'll use Simple Green or Whitley's White Wall tire cleaner. In both cases I then give the part a bath in Dawn Dish Soap and an old tooth brush. I suggest that the water used be no warmer than say 70 or 80 degrees, I feel this will prevent any changes to the bodies shape.
crazyjim Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 I've used the tire bleach in the past followed by a thorough Dawn washup.

Last bottle of Bleche-Wite I bought didn't even work on my whitewalls. This is fresh resin, so no paint, etc. to remove. Charlie Larkin
gotnitro? Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 I've always used bleach white over night soak then wash w dawn dish soap in cool water . Super clean also turned a few resin parts into a mess , I only use it now for stripping chrome
Curt Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 I use Bleche-Wite exclusively for resin. Found out the hard way that anything else is either insufficient to remove the mold release residue or strong enough to turn the resin into a soft mess.
kitbash1 Posted August 12, 2019 Posted August 12, 2019 I use Simple Green all the time to soak Resin parts and Bodies in. Never had a problem.

Kris Morgan Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Wipe down with mineral spirits followed be a good scrubbing with Dawn and, luke warm water. Do the tape test. Take masking tape and try to stick it to several areas on the body. If it sticks well, you should be good to go. If not, repeat.
