tbill Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 Jim B just finished this build, but is having issues starting new topics, so stay tuned while he replies to this and adds his pics/description.
Jim B Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 (edited) Well, that didn't work. Edited September 17, 2019 by Jim B
Jim B Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 So one of my favorite shows growing up was The Dukes of Hazzard, and I knew that I eventually wanted to build a replica of the "General Lee". I originally purchased the MPC The Dukes of Hazzard "General Lee" Dodge Charger kit, but it lacked detail, and I eventually converted the Revell 1969 Dodge Charger RT into the "General Lee". It's not perfect, but since they used about 300 cars during the production of the show, I figure it must be close to one of them! The engine, frame, suspension, & interior come from the Revell 1969 Charger RT kit; the body is from the Revell 1968 Charger RT kit; the decals, wheels, and push bar are from the MPC "General Lee" kit; B/F Goodrich tires are from a fellow modeler; CB radio from the parts box; CB antenna was scratch built; and the Hazzard County plates are from the Internet.
crowe-t Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 Excellent job Jim! What paint/color did you use on the body?
Jim B Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 (edited) Thanks, Michael. The paint is Testors Spray Enamel Gloss Competition Orange (P/N 1628). The engine is Testors Model Master Lacquer System Hemi Orange (P/N 28107). Edited September 17, 2019 by Jim B
TooOld Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Paint and detailing look spot on ! I don't know much about these cars but I bet you're right about it matching at least one of them .
Hmann68 Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Very nice! What looks nicer than a well built General Lee model? Only one thing I can think of......?
