Actually, you and I are both wrong. The engine color for a '68 440 should be more of a turquoise blue, the '69 440's were painted orange. I just left it alone after the fact though.

Hi very very nice I am also working one.I would like to know what you used for the side marker lites I am not crazy about the decals I was going to use the head of pins but it looks like yours have the center drilled out to give the 3-D look.Thabks Rick.

I made the sidemarker lights by slicing off some .080 Evergreen styrene rod, sanded them flat and as thin as possible, drilled out the center without going all the way through the piece, painted them chrome silver then foiled over them [ kind of hard to foil small pieces like this, the chrome silver hides small voids] then added stoplight red and amber paint to the centers. I made about 6 or 7 pieces, then used the best looking 4. Then just glue them to the body with your favorite glue.

Nice job William, I am still working on mine as you can see in the workbench area of the forum, I am planning on buying the photo-etch detail set to complete mine so that I don't have to worry much about the side marker lights but I think that I will be experimenting w/ some leftover photo-etch parts I have in my parts box, I thought I saw something in there that I might be able to incorporate into the build. You did a fantastic job on yours though, I like the color you chose for it!!!

Beautifully done B-body(even if you DIDN'T use the steel wheels!)!!!!:P;)

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I wanted to use the steel wheels, but with the black top and gold color, I felt it looked best with the Magnums.

so in all ratings how is the kit

scale 1-10

1 sucks really bad

10 being the best kit ever

I rate it 8.5. I had to move the rear axle forward on the leafs about 2mm to center the wheels in the rear wheelwells, the dash uses the '69 dash pad, the '68 1:1 has a peaked center. No kit is ever perfect, but this one comes close, it's a must have for everyone!

Thank you Hans! I'm totally flattered! :D

You're quite welcome. It was details like the taillights, grille and engine compartment that I thought looked very good - realistic, with that argent paint around the taillights and grille, for example.

Keep up the good work!

Now let's see if I can get something done around here..... too many projects and stuff..... :D;)

Plumber,

Are there any peculiarities in building this kit that it would help others to know about? This kit is on my list and a heads up for problems would be appreciated.

I LOVE it!

This is that new (re)tooled kit right? Seems I need to must have one some day :)

Question; Are you going to use the steelies for another project or might I be so blunt and ask is you would be so kind to swap them for something?

Sorry Erik, I'm saving the steelies for a future project. I'm sure if you ask around though, someone will have a set as this kit seems pretty popular right now.

Gary, the only thing I ran into is to make sure the interior tub is built square and the dash is all the way down in the slots in the interior side panels, I had the passenger side up to high so the tub wouldn't fit up into the body so I had to correct that, never had that problem on the '69s I've built, make sure you dry fit and check before gluing. I didn't glue the tub to the body, just let the chassis trap it in place. The radiator/core support needs to be installed at the same time as the chassis. Other wise a great kit with very few other fit issues.
