I know their is an old discussion on the Molotow Pen but I couldn't find it. When I got on my computer this morning one of the many popup ads I noticed was from Amazon Prime. They are offering the 1mm Molotow Pen for $10.43. I'm good with what I have but thought if anyone here is in the market this sounds like a good deal to me. Happy Thanksgiving to all and yours.

Another thing I'm not sure how many people know is Molotow makes their paint pens in other colors, not just the chrome that is popular here. They are a bit pricier than just using sharpies, but I find they coat better. I have a 2mm satin black, a chisel-tip satin black, and a 1mm white.

I didn't realize that, good to know. Where are you getting their pens ?

I bought some at Hobby Lobby with the %40 off coupon...

Really love the liquid inside.... but I can't get anything to come out most of the time!!

If anyone knows how to keep the paint or ink or whatever it is flowing I'm ALL ears.

Nothing more frustrating than getting half way across a piece then poof! no more paint... and the tip is dry and will not give up the goods no matter how much shaking, pumping, gyrating of the hips that I do.

The only reason I haven't thrown mine out in frustration is because they are new and I know they can give good results... just not for me.

I bought mine from an art supplies store since they had the full range of colors and styles.

Try storing them upright, cap tightly secured. This will help keep the painting tip from drying out. Something else to try when the tip goes dry, I use a paper towel to dab the tip against lightly. The towel is very absorbent and seems to draw the fluid from the tip.

Thanks, I'll try that out. I've been storing them tip down, thinking that may keep the fluid in the right direction, but that alone is a bust.

I have honestly came close to a quick dip in lacquer thinner... at worst I lose $5 bucks and future frustrations.

I've got two and never had them dry out or stop working.  I agree with storing them upright with the cap tightly on.

I made it halfway through the driver side drip rail on a Nova and mine quit... it was new and the first time I had used it with the exception of the guage bezels and glove box knob...

Since then it has been finicky at best.

By storing upright, do you mean tip down or tip up?

I've been storing tip down with the cap on tight.

Never tried this, but Molotow thins with isopropyl alcohol so maybe putting a few drops in the cap before storing it would help.

Most online advice for storage position says lay them flat.

Also never tried, but remember when your Mom used to shake down the thermometer before she jammed under your tongue?

I always store my Molotow Liquid Chrome Pens upright, with the tip and cap at the highest point. Also, these pens need to be shaken vigorously before use, for a minute or two..... when you shake them, make sure the cap is on tight, and hold the pen in a vertical position. By that I mean shake it up and down while holding the pen in the vertical position ( cap to the top ). I found that most pens are no trouble, but you get the odd one that plays up a bit.

If you shake the pen while it is held horizontally, you will get chrome paint spraying all over the place! ( happened to me with the first one I ever purchased ).
