I wanted magnesium with using what I have, 50/50 testors graphite gray metallic and testors flat steel. I think im satisfied with the results. To me, that magnesium color looks spot on! Nice work and nice build too.

johnyrotten Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Finished sorting through all the paints I picked up over the weekend. Not many casualties, almost all the model master, polly scale and tamiya were good after a quick stir. 70 new paints need racks now. Still have to deal with the 52 humbrol, I don't think the opened ones are any good. 1
NOBLNG Posted October 28 Posted October 28 (edited) I am trying to learn better paint and polishing techniques. I elected to use this body for a test mule. I primed it with Tamiya grey then painted it with Mr. Color #77 metallic green. I very lightly rubbed a spot on the roof and trunk with #3000 trizact to remove some boogers. Then I cleared it with three coats of Duplicolor perfect match gloss. I suspected that the sanded spots would show since it is a metallic paint…and it does. However, this is only a test mule so now I know better for any future project.🤓 I then wet sanded the right half of the roof with 4,6,8 and 10,000 and polished it with the three Tamiya compounds. meechum68 Posted Friday at 01:09 AM Posted Friday at 01:09 AM Did some work on the Skyline... I had it ready and then stuff, so pond it went, and you can see where the body broke in the cowl area. I will goop it tomorrow morning and let it dry while I am working. I shot it grey primer so I can see what I have to do to get it ready for the pink primer. Primed some small engine bay parts for it, and primed the chassis parts for the Longbed Datsun I have going. Primed the bottom sides of the hoods for the Pontiac and the Hudson. Painted the Hudson engine Copper, turned out nice. Will detail it before adding more parts of the assembly to it, which I have to prime and paint and detail. 1
meechum68 Posted Saturday at 01:25 AM Posted Saturday at 01:25 AM Got some detail paint done on the Datsun and the rough spots on the Skyline sanded as well as the putty where I fixed the crack sanded as well. Will give it an alcohol wipe down to remove finger oil, and dust then lay the first coat of pink primer down. 2
meechum68 Posted Sunday at 01:07 AM Posted Sunday at 01:07 AM (edited) Got the pink primer down on the Skyline, got the Hudson in grey primer and of course obligatory pic of the copper engine. I am going with. Got some other random parts painted too. Getting closer to doing some assembly on a couple other kits chassis wise. Edited Sunday at 01:09 AM by meechum68 2
FoMoCo66 Posted Sunday at 01:27 AM Posted Sunday at 01:27 AM After finishing up 3 cars I was tapping my fingers on what to do. So I decided to correct the window openings on the amt 66 fairlane. Moved the rear and front window openings upward. The trim on the windshield is also not represented correctly, it is one solid piece of trim from the window to the door. This means the curved part had to go as well as meaning I could thin the a pillar. I actually used a 66 falcon annual as a guide because on the 1:1 they are the same in this area. 2
Lownslow Posted Sunday at 01:57 AM Posted Sunday at 01:57 AM Repopped some mcg gauges but for obvious ethical reasons im not gonna make anymore, just wanted to see if i could so ill be designing my own for more modern builds 1
meechum68 Posted Sunday at 01:19 PM Posted Sunday at 01:19 PM Those are cool Frank! Can be used in so many different situations.
Ulf Posted Sunday at 02:53 PM Posted Sunday at 02:53 PM Today, my workshop got a gate and a door, so finally I have somewhere to put AMT's squirrel. 2

johnyrotten Posted Sunday at 08:01 PM Posted Sunday at 08:01 PM Fixed this hood, had to add styrene on the back edge and side, there was a mile missing. Gaps look better now an it fits properly. 2
Can-Con Posted Sunday at 11:06 PM Posted Sunday at 11:06 PM Tinted up a bunch of windows. Had to do the ones for my '64 Elky project so I did a bunch for future projects at the same time. I usually do them in batches of about a 1/2 dozen kits at a time. Then the paint is fully dried for several months or more before I wet sand and polish them out. It's all Tamiya acrylics. Dark sea blue for the tint bands, a custom mix of clear blue and green and strait clear [X-22]with a couple more coats of X-22 so I don't polish into the tint by accident. 3
johnyrotten Posted yesterday at 12:00 AM Posted yesterday at 12:00 AM Made adjustable headrest as well as got everything ready for primer. I'm on a roll this evening. 3
Lownslow Posted yesterday at 01:50 AM Posted yesterday at 01:50 AM Laser is dialed in for cutting now so i made myself some parts for the Porsche 1
meechum68 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago I got a little bit of work, well spots of stuff here and there done. My little Datsun, wheels assembled, rear suspension in place, have to paint the shock (I realized this after I mounted stuff) will line out the front tomorrow. Will prime 2 pieces for the front suspension tomorrow. Then have to figure out the interior, I think I am gonna go with metallic blue just for some pop. The Skyline primer should be done, I didn't see any defects during the last primer coat. If that's the case, then tomorrow first coat of Mica Silver. The Hudson, I had to hit the left front fender with some putty, so should be able to get it fully primed tomorrow.
