CarModDave Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) I finished this one up just in time for the upcoming Tampa show, where the theme(s) is/are "Fins & Flames". I have a few flamed cars to enter but this one will bridge both themes. It's the Monogram hardtop kit. I sanded the top smooth and lowered the ride height all around just a bit. The rolling stock is from Pegasus, however I narrowed both the tries and chrome T's by "one tread width" so I didn't have to fab up tubs. The tires just fit after they were narrowed. The colors are all HoK: basecoat black, Chrome Yellow, Kandy Organic Green, Kandy Spanish Gold, Snowhite Pearl and Majik Blue Pearl topped with DuPont ChromaClear urethane. The skull hanging from the mirror is the gear shift from the Monogram "Boomer Bucket" "T" kit. The motor is Ross Gibson BBC with injector stacks from BRP and Pro Tech fuel lines/rad hoses. For some reason, I just had to build a weed-scraping, fuel-injected, toxic green flamed '59 Cadillac..........thus the nickname.......... "HELLDORADO" Edited October 8, 2008 by CarModDave

torinobradley Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Awesome build and very original. How many Caddys do you see with injectors sticking out the green flamed hood? I have a question on how you narrowed the wheels and tires. Care to share your secret method?

CarModDave Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 Awesome build and very original. How many Caddys do you see with injectors sticking out the green flamed hood? I have a question on how you narrowed the wheels and tires. Care to share your secret method? Absolutely. But it's super-top secret.......... I used.................................................... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ......a REALLY sharp, brand new #11 blade (for the tires) and a razor saw for the wheels! I just followed the tread around the tire with the blade and removed the outer, rounded edge of the tires. I also removed the same "width" from the inside of the wheel with a razor saw. Then I removed the next "tread width" of tire and slipped the newly narrowed tire onto the newly narrowed wheel. Then I replaced the "outside" of the tire and there you have it - a narrowed set of Pegasus T's! Here's a couple of pics for reference. The 1st is of the removed portions of the tire & wheel and then the narrowed versions with the treads back in place:
