ewetwo Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 This was a started kit I bought off facebook with some others. It was painted a dark navy blue. Engine half built. Striped it and here it is. My grandmother had a 1966 Delta 88 this color. That was one beautiful car. White walls from the 1965 “Grand Slam” Grand Prix.
Peter Lombardo Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Very nice, looks like it is ready for a Sunday drive in the country. well done..... love the light metallic green too.
Scalper Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Great looking build.. really like that green paint
ewetwo Posted January 16, 2020 Author Posted January 16, 2020 (edited) Thank you. I will use that color again on a GM car. It's hard to find light metallic colors. Especially green. The kit came with black walls and it just didn't look right. The whitewall made a big difference. Being 65 years old. Whitewalls were the thing when I was young. I wish they would include them in all the older car kits. I have 2 more Grand Slam kits and I bought them mainly for the white walls. Oh. And it was the second build I tired the black in the door and trunk opening but it leaves a shadow effect I don't like. Tried to buff them out but they wouldn't. And I thought using a water based acrylic craft paint that it would work. Edited January 16, 2020 by ewetwo
Bucky Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 I think it looks great! A friend of mine had a '67 Buick Skylark convertible in this same color combination.
'70 Grande Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 A terrific-looking Oldsmobile convertible, the color choices are outstanding as is the build-quality. Tried unsuccessfully to PM you; you mentioned you have some extra Grand Slam kits that you got the whitewall tires for this build from... I have been looking for all of the body, glass and interior pieces from one of those 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix kits; would you be interested in trading those unbuilt parts from one of your extra Grand Slam kits? Please PM me if you might be; thanks!
