disconovaman Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 (edited) Here is a simple, yet effective build to get me out of a rutt... Grab one of your color molded plastic kits from back in the day, polish the body using buffing pads and a fine scratch wax, paint the details, add a little BMF, and 2 days later you're back in action. This is the Monogram 70 boss Mustang in 1/24th scale... Thanks for looking... Edited March 9, 2020 by disconovaman Additional texts
espo Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Great looking Boss Mustang. I'm glad you pointed out that the finish is not painted otherwise I don't think any one would know. I did much the same thing a few years ago for much the same reason. The '65 El Camino was also done in Yellow plastic.
Snake45 Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Very nice! I hereby award you your Green Belt in Snake-Fu! Well done and model on, grasshopper!
vamach1 Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 NIce idea. Yellow is the color I least like to spray paint as it seems to take a lot to cover and get even coats.
disconovaman Posted March 10, 2020 Author Posted March 10, 2020 Thanks everyone... These types of builds are good slump busters. Another good way to get you out of a rutt is to pre-paint and pre-detail a kit with none to minimal gluing... Kinda like the idea that AMT had back in the early 2000's. For me, the challenge is the urge to want to get it built myself. If you can make it through til the end it will leave you wanting to actually build the next kit. I just did one in January. and I've built three kits since then. I will bag out the parts and organize them according to what parts fit together. ( Engine, suspension, interior etc...) And I sometimes have to add color codes to the parts for left or right and alter the directions... I usually give them away afterwards. Here is the Vette I did in January... I gave it to one of our club members to get him back building...

I'm about to start on a pre-painted (red) Polar Lights '65 Coronet, and the idea is to Snake-slap it together with as LITTLE additional paint and detailing as I can stand, kinda like if I were Snake-Fuing a diecast or rescuing a toy-show glue bomb. If it turns out well, I have a pre-painted (green) AMT '71 Duster in the Snakepit, too.
