I had no idea of what category this would fall into while I was building it, so I decided to put it under glass when it was finished. If you’ve read my last couple of posts, you’ll understand I’ve been saving all these great kits to build “some day”. I’m a builder, not a collector!  After a recent hand injury, turning 63, and accumulating more aches and pains that I won’t get into, I’m building this stuff before I can’t do it any longer.

Several years ago, I purchase a model car collection from an old man. There were several built, partially built and unbuilt kits. Nothing newer than 1962. This trailer was part of that collection and I believe it came with the SMP 60 Ford pick up that I have. The truck is built as a mild custom, there was no box, so I’m not a hundred percent sure. I have never seen a more complete trailer kit though.

I built this to go with my 62 Ford Galaxie drag car, and a soon to be built 62 Ford pick up from the same collection. The axles were bent and I heated and straightened them with heat. I mixed Gloss black and semi gloss black as I didn’t want it too shiny as trailers aren’t usually very shiny. I didn’t put all the trim and marker lights on the kit as I wanted it a little simpler. The decals were cool, but there toast. Hope you enjoy, comments and suggestions always welcome.

Thanks for posting and bringing back the memories.  It looks good and I like your subtle approach.  I still  have the trailer but the pickup is long gone unfortunately.

Great looking Trailer kit. I remember building a few of these years ago and they were often offered as an option in many of the old AMT pick up kits. AMT or Round 2 reissued the '76 Chevrolet Caprice kit and included this trailer in the kit. I have two, the "AMT Classic" series and "Pro Shop" series.
