Fine 'woven' steel screen sources

Fine steel screen mesh, sort of like window screen but more thread per inch (that how it's defined?).  I checked out eBay, see some that come from China.  In some cases you need to buy a roll.  Thinking of something like what Bentley uses for grills.

There's all manner of PE screen made for military and railroad modeling, as well as for cars if you look.

There's also a wide variety of woven mesh filter screen made for industrial applications, usually in stainless.

Some of the woven mesh is so fine you can't really even see through it.

Some industrial suppliers will send you samples.

Google is your friend. Sorta.

And there are multiple suppliers who will sell small quantities, too.

Nylon filter mesh is another option.

For small pieces look on eBay for stainless steel pipe or hookah screens.  Or just for stainless steel mesh.   The larger the mesh number, the finer the screen.  150 is finer than 40 for example.

I started there, now I know what the number system is, thank you!  I want a little bigger than pipe screens.

Went to eBay. In the search I typed in "stainless steel mesh" (no quotes). 110,912 results for stainless steel mesh.

I don't know what size mesh you are looking for, but here for example is a 12" x 36" piece of 100 mesh screen for $13. Shipped from USA.

I'll give that a shot.  Pulled out some scraps in my parts stash, either 40 or 80 per inch, was thinking 60 is what I want.

I was looking for this a while back. At Walmart I found a set of two frying pan "splatter guards" for about $7 that looked like just what I was looking for. Gave one to The Lovely Mrs. Snake for the kitchen and will put the other to use of some kind eventually. One should be a lifetime supply.

I did, avoided the "from China" items, just ordered.  I double checked Amazon, what few #60 listed were unavailable.

Yes, shipped from LA (the one I bought from).  Only after the PayPal transaction was done, did I see Chinese font of the seller.  Not surprised, US can't make anything other than trouble.

Well the American corporate management, and share-holders' greed kind of did that to ourselves by outsourcing work to China.    But that subject would be for another thread (if politics were allowed here).

Have you checked @ Kroger's or any of the other supermarket stores in the coffee filter racks????.... They have a fine mesh wire basket for coffee grounds...

During initial search, saw coffee baskets, pot pipe screens, etc. available.

Got a surprise letter with some screen, from one of my peeps that I did business with via this forum!  It's the section to the right.  What I ordered via eBay is under the ruler, 60 per inch.  The small scrap shows the other common 'fine' screen.  The lower left came in a Fujimi Porsche 356 kit, for headlights.  Didn't know I *needed* this size, have 6 lifetimes supply, or can be useful for trades. ?
