#1 model citizen Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Nothing special. The best car I ever owned is represented here. Paint is Duplicolor Chrysler Bright White. I added rub rails on the roof , repositioned the luggage rack and open the grille and replaced it with some weird netting I found, otherwise box stock. Comments & suggestions welcome.
shoopdog Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Great looking replica of your 1:1. Could pass as the real deal in the right setting. I never knew such a kit existed, who makes it.

(Its screaming at me to do so! LOL)
Tom Geiger Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 I approve as owner of threes Caravans in a row. Had an 84, 90 and still have the 96 Grand Caravan hightop! I built two of this kit, a CV commercial van without rear side glass and a Taxi. I did the rear wiper on that one! Lore is that Lindberg has a promo contract with Chrysler.. they did a convertible and Dakota pickup. Somehow the order was cancelled for the Grand Caravan, which was all new that year. So Lindberg had the tool done and proceeded with a limited run on the kit.. which to their surprise was a sellout, necessitating a second run. Great job on the Model.

I checked out your sharp Caravans & they reminded me of the missing antenna!? The rear wiper really adds to the realism. What was your source? Edited July 4, 2020 by #1 model citizen

I did drill a hole to mount it on a short length of straight pin.

The '88 had mechanical issues (transmission, valves) but the '98 seemed flawless. However the perfect storm of failing computer, fender bender, rust, thin tires, etc, made replacing it @ 240,000 mi. sensible. My current every day driver is an '06 T&C. Though not as well appointed as the '98, it has been just as mechanically reliable. Fit & finish? Not so good?
MeatMan Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 Very well done! My wife had one like that and drove it until the wheels were ready to fall off. ?
Jim B Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Nice looking Caravan. I owned one of these as well. 2006 Grand Caravan, I think. And while I liked the van a lot, 5 complete brake jobs in 60000 was a little much. I guess Dodge & New York winters just don't get along.

Thanks all. I have heard horror stories about brake wear but I haven't had any such problems. I'm sure the NY winters are as good for rust as Iowa!
Tom Geiger Posted July 8, 2020 Posted July 8, 2020 Funny story.. my wife’s brother is not a car guy or even remotely mechanical. We were at their house and the two of us jumped into his older Caravan to go to liquor store. I could hear noise from front left wheel and told him to have it checked out.. probably a wheel bearing. He shrugged and said it had been making that noise a long time. Maybe a year later he’s on the NJ Turnpike in the fast lane when it finally let loose! He was all over the road and came to rest in the left shoulder. There was a lot of damage so he junked it. To this day he will tell you Mopars are awful cars and that his Caravan tried to kill him!
