BIGTRUCK Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 This is one of two kits in the Revell 22jr kit. I needed the complete dragster chassis and engine for the Dodge Revellion so I decided to build the Drag Roadster kit. Like most Revell kits they make some parts 2 pc and then chrome them, so I get rid off most off the chrome. On the multi piece body , I added a 3/16 strip to widen the rear area for easier fit, paint and seam removal. It wont be a Tony Nancy 22jr replica, just a 60s era drag roadster. I do see why as kids back in the day steered clear of these kits, they are pretty fragile and some what finicky going together but if you succeed they do look super. 2
cobraman Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 I like those kits even with their problems. I think I bought that kit three times. I like to use the frames to make fuel coupes.
Straightliner59 Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 Back in the late '80s, when Revell introduced the Tony Nancy triple kit, I was working in a hobby distributor. We had a retail store in a mall, as well. The 22 Jr. and 22 Jr. Roadster were both molded in silver, and people kept returning them to our store, and to other stores, that we supplied, as defective, thinking that there should be a set of red sprues, too. I was able to buy them as defective, for 20 cents on the dollar. I think i had four or five of them, at one time!
BIGTRUCK Posted August 8, 2020 Author Posted August 8, 2020 The final mock up and all in primer. Painted whitewalls need a final coat and sealer, drilled rear deck for the push bar. Ready for paint. 3
cobraman Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 What was your paint of choice of white for the tires ?
Snake45 Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Looks very period-correct. Can't wait to see where this goes. Drive on!

I use Tamiya XF-2 flat white Acrylic with a little dab of 91% alcohol on the brush before a dab of paint for the first coat, then next day brush on full coat of white. I only use acrylic on tires. 1
BIGTRUCK Posted August 18, 2020 Author Posted August 18, 2020 Put some color on the body and rails , also added a few decals .Now to get that engine done , front end done and paint and detail the interior area. 1
Scott8950 Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 Looks awesome... The whitewalls look amazing...
BIGTRUCK Posted August 20, 2020 Author Posted August 20, 2020 Most of the interior area gets covered up. Body fitting is tough at this point since it started as a multi piece body getting the body on without cracking at the seams is a one time shot. Now that its this far the rest should be smooth sailing.?? 3
