I built one of those not too long ago. Only I changed it to a short bed using the '72 GMC parts. The AMT hood will fit. But, not as well as the MPC.

So is it a MPC.

Yeah. Your kit is an MPC. The grille is much more accurate than the AMT counterpart. You could use the GMC hood and sand away the letters. The rear fenders from the GMC are actually more accurate than the MPC's are. I'm planning a long stepside GMC with the leftovers I have.

Not sure when they were made, but the year model should be '71-'72. There were three issues I know of...Rolling Thunder...Heavy Pedal...Chevy Step Side.

One correction on the article: The AMT '72 Chevy didn't come from the MPC tool. It came from the '72 GMC tooling. That's why the '72 GMC can't be reissued. Steve Milberry and I had this discussion when I built my MPC '72 Chevy. If you compare the two, especially the grilles, you'll instantly see they're not from the same tooling.
