Joe Thomas Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 A fellow modeler suggested using a circuit board holder to position model car bodies while applying decals or trim. Purchased from amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q2TTQEE?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
SCRWDRVR Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Interesting idea, how do you have it attached to the holder?
Quiet Eric Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 This is brilliant. Thank you for sharing!!
Joe Thomas Posted October 16, 2020 Author Posted October 16, 2020 (edited) Scrwdrvr: The blue vertical stands are adjustable horizontally plus the left one is spring loaded so the body is held by a clamping action. There are also grooves in the black pieces that mate with the body. Edited October 16, 2020 by Joe Thomas
SCRWDRVR Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Nice!!! That’s an awesome idea, thanks for sharing...
NOBLNG Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 (edited) This seems like a good place for this. I am working on some taillights and came up with this. It works great, but I think that anything like a quart jar, yogurt container, coffee can, etc. filled with sand or something for weight, would work fine for front or rear end work. Quiet Eric Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 Picked one up a while ago and finally got to use it, and all of a sudden I can't imagine what I would do without it.
High octane Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 If you're happy with it, that's all that counts.
TransAmMike Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 I got one and my problem with it is in order to get the body tight enough to do anything with it you have to squeeze it in on the ends. I'm afraid to warp or hurt the body.
Painted Black Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 With my luck it would fall out and hit the floor, messing up a perfect paint job
ewetwo Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 (edited) I just ordered one on Ebay. Hopefully it'll help seeing my hands get shaky trying to put the really small stuff on. $13.17 total with free shipping. Edited November 16, 2020 by ewetwo

I didn’t make it super right, and I can see that being more of an issue on a different car. With this one being pretty squared off front and rear it worked well.
TransAmMike Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 I'm keeping mine , just have to use it when it will work for something. It's cheap enough.
