junkyardjeff Posted October 18, 2020 Posted October 18, 2020 The early 70s MPC Chevy truck I have has a fancy interior with buckets and console, since I want to rebuild it as a basic truck was there ever one made with a bench seat. I looked at my GMC shortbed and it also has buckets but no console.

Plowboy Posted October 18, 2020 Posted October 18, 2020 (edited) Neither the AMT or MPC late '60s early '70s Chevy pickups had bench seats. Which is pretty annoying since the bucket seats were quite rare even in the Cheyenne. MPC continued the bucket seats interior all the way up to the '84 GMC and later model Chevies. I'm going to change the buckets out whenever I get around to building the GMC long stepside I have planned. Edited October 18, 2020 by Plowboy
junkyardjeff Posted October 18, 2020 Author Posted October 18, 2020 On this MPC the seats are molded in the tub so it would not be easy to change.
Plowboy Posted October 18, 2020 Posted October 18, 2020 They're molded in on all of them. It would be as simple as cutting it out and a piece of styrene on the back. The new seat would cover the rest.
mikemodeler Posted October 19, 2020 Posted October 19, 2020 With the upcoming release of the Racers Wedge and next year's arrival of the pickup reissue, if someone were to offer a resin tub with a bench seat they would probably sell a few.

Only if a caster could make them cheap enough that it would be worth it to the builder.
junkyardjeff Posted November 6, 2020 Author Posted November 6, 2020 Yes that is what I would like to have.
