Looks like a very well detailed kit, I’m

interested to see the detail in the engine bay.

It's the same as the GTI i built some time ago, but with a carburettor instead of the injection parts.

Really nice interior on  you kit, I like it... Do you have any decision on color yet?

I'm thinking of going with Volkswagen lemon yellow, although I'm struggling to get it mixed up in the UK, (unless I want a litre of the stuff mixed)  looks like I'm going to have it sent over from Germany

@Bullybeef Nice ride. Are the bumpers installed upside down?

OT: nice build, I'll be watching. If it turns out like the GTI, it'll be great!

No they are golf ends on scirocco bumpers, the scirocco ones are unobtainium

Well the one thing I have is a great appreciation for the MK1 chassis!
move owned this since 2002

Hey, another local!

I recognize this car!

I've been a VW guy for a long time now. Worked for Norden for most of the 90s and early 2000s, have been an owner and previous participant/winner at the Air Riders shows over the years. :)

We probably has some friends in common then!

but back to the op, @GeeBee this is very good work, I’m waiting for this one to completion, and apologies for the thread hijack.

After looking at the previous few photos, I noticed the dashboard looked a little rough around the edges, and the roof down part looked like it needed cleaning up a little more, after a quick session with a foam sanding pad they look a lot better, got the interior dry fitted into place, I'm looking forward to getting this one painted, I've ordered the Lemon Yellow basecoat from Germany.

The seat backs need filling and sanding smooth before they get painted, I've just ordered the filler, as the one I have, the hardner has gone off.

Two hubcaps done, two more to do, I had thought about doing them using Alclad, ended up using my favourite Bare Metal foil

Look forward to seeing it your progress with your usual attention to detail.

Didn't realise it came with the option of chrome hubcaps.

For the yellow paint, couldn't you have got an aerosol mixed at a car parts shop? That's what I've done for a couple of old Datsun colours.

I tried many places, the smallest I could get mixed was 1 litre, for basecoat,  or 100mls of the older cellulose, I know when I was working at V.A.G, we were limited to how many yellow cars we could produce, as back then, yellow was the only colour that needed lead to be added to it, I've got 50mls of basecoat coming from Germany, yes, the cost with the shipping wasn't cheap, but cost really doesn't come into it, since using basecoat for the GTI and Land Rover, I've gotten to like the way it goes on.

The hubcaps are supplied on the gray sprue, in the ?? Revell Rabbit kit they are actually chromed.
