Let’s throw back to a sixties hot rod!

Chopped channeled, louvers, roll pan, bobbed fenders, a hot flathead!
Well after following a thread by @Kit Karson I completed my first top chop on a five window coupe, and then in my usual fashion I browsed the interwebs til I found a car to emulate.

I’ll see of I can get this pile of plastic to look good.

So far all I’ve used are leftovers and parts from my rebuilder pile!

Taking your time makes for a better result...

Keep up the good work!

Thank you,

It wasn’t as difficult as I had thought, your step by step process helped a lot!

I know mine looks a bit rough, but I’m pleased with my results.

Work on this has stalled slightly, spent a couple of days doing some trading, and in the end I have a great stock of kits that I will build, as well as a plethora of great usable parts.

one of the kits was a really sweet vintage roadster, the guy threw in the other boxes as a treat.

so after sorting parts and kits for a couple of days, I managed to at least get the suspension components painted and ready to install, I’ll be using the frame from the monogram roadster, already cut the fenders off and smoothed out the rails, seeing as how this will be a channeled rod I concentrated on the front and bottom.

Bill, just a heads up, when using the Monogram frame without fenders, make sure you add a strip of plastic to the outside of the frame forward of the firewall and to the inside of the frame behind the firewall.  I have built three hiboys using this frame but Monogram did something funny in their treatment of this part and it will look very undernourished without this little addition.  It doesn't take long but it does make a difference.

Cheers

Alan

Sigh...

this build has almost defeated me, the body is not coming along as I had hoped, but the frame and engine are almost finished.

made some engine mounts and made a nice little shorty exhaust.
I may back burner this for a little as I was tempted to stomp on the body after the last round of primer, so many flaws are showing snd I’m not happy at all, I went through my stash of bodies and almost swapped it out for another!
so not sure when the next update will be...
