A nice improvement I think without having to scratch build the entire coil-over. Once the assembly is painted I will use the red coated wire to replicate the spring in lieu of the bare wire. Brilliant way for better realism than to go crazy with it....love how you show other ways to do things!!!

afx Posted March 28, 2021 Author Posted March 28, 2021 (edited) Thanks Dann. Fabricated what I believe is a battery box Added a fire bottle switch, it will be plumbed to the two chamber bottle included in the kit Resin ignition module Edited March 28, 2021 by afx
afx Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 (edited) Thanks Dale. Started paint and assembly on the long-tail chassis, I'll post an update soon. Edited March 30, 2021 by afx

This photo appears to show no roll cage at this stage. There does appear to be some reinforcement in the greenhouse structure however. As an ex-race and rally marshal it's interesting to see the late Ferrari F1 driver Gilles Villeneuve in the driving seat in the coloured picture, but Ferrari owned Lancia at the time so must have used him as a test pilot. Walter Rohrl in the black and white photo was one of their full time drivers. Edited April 2, 2021 by PatW

The Giro D'Italia is a multi-day event, Villeneuve drove some of the stages before he was called back to his F1 duties, story here: https://supercarnostalgia.com/blog/lancia-gilles-and-the-1979-giro-d-italia

Ben269 Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 JC, you build some of the most interesting cars. I've never even seen many of the kits you build. They are always a fun follow!
afx Posted April 4, 2021 Author Posted April 4, 2021 Glad you enjoy my projects Ben. My interest can be a little off the main stream.
Dann Tier Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 Its looking Fantastic, Bud!!!!....whats next for it?
afx Posted April 5, 2021 Author Posted April 5, 2021 Thanks Dann. Final engine bay work and hang suspension is next on the list.

afx Posted April 7, 2021 Author Posted April 7, 2021 Glad you enjoy the builds Mike. Exhaust and rear suspension installed.
dublin boy Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Is that both turbo and supercharged like the 037 JC?
afx Posted April 9, 2021 Author Posted April 9, 2021 Turbo only Shay. There was a twin turbo version. Fluid tanks and turbo intake installed. That should do it for the engine bay (except for the rear brakes).
dublin boy Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 I don't understand the different diameter exhaust pipes, can you enlighten me please?
iamsuperdan Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 4 hours ago, dublin boy said: I don't understand the different diameter exhaust pipes, can you enlighten me please? If it's like a Porsche 911 Turbo, then one is the engine exhaust, and the other is from the wastegate from the turbo.
dublin boy Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Could be Dan, but it looks odd. I'm sure JC will explain it.
afx Posted April 10, 2021 Author Posted April 10, 2021 (edited) Dan is correct. The lower larger diameter is the engine exhaust, the upper smaller diameter is the waste gate exhaust. In this photo they cut the waste gate exhaust short. Edited April 10, 2021 by afx
dublin boy Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 Every day is a school day! Thanks for the info gentlemen.
