JerseeJerry55 Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 I am more of a semi truck, muscle car builder. However I was sent this by a good friend. It's a Revell Cadillac Escalade. Something I'd never think I'd ever want to build. The last time I ever built a SUV type of vehicle was a 1978 Ford Bronco back in the late 1970's. It's a bit of an intriguing kit as I consider these big one's either contractor's vehicle's or soccer mom/mom's taxi type of transportation. So at this point I determine which way to go on the build. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.
Steve H Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Hi Jerry, well.... if you’re looking for ideas, I would lower it.... a lot!! Maybe some Pegasus 23” “T”s on it, GM medium garnet red paint. Some smoke clear to tint the windows and wheels. Make it a soccer dad type of beast, maybe throw a big block motor in it too?
espo Posted January 17, 2021 Posted January 17, 2021 Ideas ? I would consider toning down the grill a little even if it's just making the top molding the same size as the bottom and sides of the opening. Maybe a tighter mesh center section of the grill. Lowering it would help but I wouldn't go to crazy on the rims and rubber band tires. For a real adventure how about making it a crew cab very short box design. Add a rear window and bulkhead behind the rear doors and remove the roof over the rear cargo area.
Steamboat Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 My goal is to take two of them and make an actual long wheelbase model. The box art depicts the LWB, but the model is a SWB. I've got a 99 Silverado to use the front end from to make a Suburban, which is my 1:1 ride. Chevy fenders and body side molding are different, so it will be a challenge.
