PHPaul
Back in March of 2020, a poster mentioned finding some straight round files in sizes appropriate to modeling: See this post I PM'd him, but he hasn't posted in a long time. I've looked all over - McMaster-Carr, Amazon, Micromark, Ebay - and can't find any straight files. Tapered Swiss-pattern, yes. Straight - no. I'd REALLY like to have a set. Does anyone have a source? PHPaul
Yup, I have several but that's too big for my intended use.
Muncie
I've found chain saw files down to 1/16 at a chain saw, yard equipment dealer. Not at the general home improvement/hardware stores. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit - sorry, just went to double check and the chain saw file I have is also 1/8" - same size... PHPaul
1/16 would be the biggest I could use. Among other things, I want to file fishmouths into round stock for building frames and roll cages.
Muncie
When fishmouthing tubing or rod, I start with a triangular file to mark the tubing deep enough to use the tapered end of a round hobby file to finish and file to fit.

Can’t help with the straight files, but you can wrap sandpaper around an appropriately sized drill bit to do the final finish on the fishmouth...but you probably already know that.? espo
I have a file collection that I got years ago that was offered by X-Acto. This has a 1" by 2" wood block with 12 different designed files standing up in it. I think I saw something like it at a local Hobby Lobby store in their model section. That my be a good place to look anyway.
Pete J.
Not cheap because they are jeweler files but they are the best quality. I've been using Grobbet for years and love them. https://www.ottofrei.com/Glardon-Vallorbe-Round-Parallel-Precision-Files-LP1669
