Painted Black
Are the custom wheel covers based on a full scale cover ? Thanks
Casey
I think so, but not sure if the 1:1 cover was an OEM offering of an aftermarket full wheel cover. This vintage ad shows a few AMT-familiar wheel covers, and "G" looks a bit like the six-bar covers from the AMT '53 Ford pickup, so perhaps searching the web for Oldsmobile covers might turn up some better info: The below covers from the most recent issue are what you are asking about, correct?:
ChrisBcritter
It's an aftermarket knock-off of the '57 Olds 88 base wheelcover design, with six blades and a bullet added; the originals were 14" but the aftermarket ones were available in both 14" and 15" sizes. Tom Geiger
Ah! JC Whitney cheapie tin wheel covers. I remember those with surface rust!
espo
Surface rust was often caused by stray animals lifting a leg on them. I lost a set of "Baby Moons" over night, they lasted 24 hours before they turned to rust streaked hub caps.
TransAmMike
Boy that old wheel cover add sure brings back memories of my childhood many (way too many) years ago🙄😄
