Zippi Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 I did a search and came up empty. Is there anything that can be done with the clear plastic headlights? Anything you guys are doing to make them stand out?
Snake45 Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 (edited) If the kit has clear headlight lenses, the two best things you can do is install them straight and right-side up, and install them with a non-fogging glue (such as white glue). Oh, and if the headlight has a plastic "stem," like many Monogram kits, hit the back of that stem with white paint to avoid the toylike googly-eye look. This has made a HUGE difference in the appearance of many of my diecasts. Edited April 18, 2021 by Snake45
Tabbysdaddy Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 I like to put a piece of bare metal foil behind the stem to hide the hole.
Steamboat Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 Here's a trick I use. I picked up these sequins at HL. They are a little over 1/4" in diameter. I glue the head of a pin (preferably a spherical one) into the center hole, and mount the assembly in place of the kit's reflector. Here's a picture of a finished model. I'm working on another that needs better headlights right now, I'll let you know how it comes out.
