mark 23 Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 I'm currently getting started on building the George Follmer 1970 Mustang Boss 302 Trans Am car. I'm using the Revell Boss 302 Mustang kit. My question is what rattle can spray paint is available to get the correct color for the body ? Hopefully something in the Tamiya line would be close.
afx Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 (edited) The color has been described as either Grabber Orange or School Bus Yellow depending on your reference source. Don't have a paint recommendation for you however. Edited May 7, 2021 by afx
vamach1 Posted May 7, 2021 Posted May 7, 2021 There are a few options. I used Model Car World ( a spray can I bought in the 90’s). Testor’s did a grabber orange which is close. I have no idea when I bought the can of Dupli-color School bus yellow DA 1663 many years ago I have yet to finish my Boss as replicating the engine compartment is where I’ve gotten hung up. Hope this helps and refer to the SAE Dec 2013 magazine for a nice build write up.

This is painted with Tamiya TS-56 Brilliant Orange . I did spoon tests with this and Model Master Grabber Orange and they were an exact match .
vintagerpm Posted June 3, 2021 Posted June 3, 2021 The Mustangs were painted School Bus Yellow by order of Bud Moore. Ford wanted the cars to stand out more than they had in 1969. Tamiya Camel Yellow is a pretty close match.

Yours is a cool model I used to have the tirebird car.
