PatW Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 It's been on the shelf for at least ten years, the near local store closed about 10 years ago. Without decals.. And with decals.. The typical Tamiya decals were perfect! 3
bbowser Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Well done Pat! I recently got one of these in the stash, anything special to look out for?
Dave Van Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 GREAT work on my favorite F1 car ever!!!!! I have two of those....need to build!

The front section with the four wheels/suspension and the rear radiator piping, kinks easily and needs shortening and warming up(hot water) when connecting to the radiators. I also had a problem getting the rear wheels to line up in a forward straight line, both wanted to be splayed out towards the front and tuck in at the back. Looking back in the early days of Tamiya F1 cars I preferred the 1/10th-1/12th scale, easier to build but now very expensive.
PatW Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 (edited) Thanks guys as an ex marshal at the Silverstone circuit this was one of the groundbrakers in 6 wheel technology, only Tyrrell had 4 wheels at the front. March and Williams had four wheels at the back but neither of the others raced, due to various power down transmission and grip problems! Edited June 23, 2021 by PatW
1959scudetto Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Nice model, Pat! I remember March and Williams doing some testing with their 6wheelers, but those were finally abandoned - Tyrrell was the only one racing; IIRC, Jody Scheckter managed its only win in Sweden 1976.
PatW Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 Thanks Helmut. Yes the Williams and March failed and the Tyrrell was a winner. Yes Jody win and since retiring has a farm in the south of England.
PatW Posted June 25, 2021 Author Posted June 25, 2021 Thanks Larry, yes as I've said earlier, a nice kit.
tyrell p34 123 Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Hi All i have a 1:10 scale Tyrrell P34 kit No.RA1003 i got this from my grandfather when i was a kid, I'm trying to get it running but am struggling to find out exactly what i have, from my research i found it could be a older model from around 1977 reason is based off the parts it has in (i.e the older steering block etc.) from photos i could find i am based in South Africa so seeking someone to help/ advise on maybe finding parts or getting in running, at some point i had it driving but the steering block/ mechanism is giving problems i would like to keep it as original as possible, and get it on the road to hand over to my son, so it has some sentimental value i am not really to concerned about the actual value of the product although it will be interesting if someone might know any advice will be greatly appreciated
Pierre Rivard Posted April 24, 2024 Posted April 24, 2024 Looks awesome Pat. I love that race car, particularly with the this first release body work and blue/white paint scheme.
PatW Posted April 25, 2024 Author Posted April 25, 2024 Thanks Pierre Rivard. David, I know nothing of any RC Cars. I had one of the first Tamiya Beetle Sand Scorchers about 35 years ago, but the batteries were so lacking in power for more than 15 minutes I got rid of it!
Chinacar Posted April 25, 2024 Posted April 25, 2024 I have one in my stash too. This has got to be the most stashed model on the market. Kudos to you for building it Pat, you did a great job!
