Rob Hall Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 It was freezing here last night! Got down to 70! I hate winter!!!!!! December is nice in Oahu..was there in early December in '06 for a few days.... and it was nice when I was there for a week in April 07. Will have to back and visit the other islands. Winter is great in AZ, but summer is another story... I'm going to try and split my year in '09, contract for 6-8 months in Denver and 4-6 months in Phoenix.
CAL Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 It was freezing here last night! Got down to 70! I hate winter!!!!!! I hate you!
samdiego Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 We are having a harsh winter storm here as well, I actually had to buy a windshield wiper. Thought about using the heater in the car too, but settled for rolling the window almost all the way up.
Pete J. Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 (edited) Yea, the winter weather has been horrible! Temps here have been in the high 50's and we are just buried in liquid snow. Actually turned off the sprinkler system 4 weeks ago. Shot a picture of my back yard to give you an idea of what a mess this liquid snow causes. My pond is almost overflowing. James Flowers Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Winter is here too! No broken trees yet... but snow on the ground before Christmas is a rarity to be sure! I would cut that leaner for sure.
James Flowers Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 Not to worry, Gary; the Manx seldom stays out past Thanksgiving, and this year he was pretty much away by Halloween. He gets tucked in the corner up on stands until spring has sprung: A couple of neighbors and I were slated to meet with the tree service this week to see about work we all wanted done(hoping for a 'group discount'). We wanted to wait until all the leaves had gone and the weather was cooler...looks like we waited a little too long, I guess. Today's weather? About 45-50 degress and a light rain; tomorrow might hit 60. Sometimes NY weather is a real rollercoaster ride. Snug as a bug in a rug.
James Flowers Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 It was freezing here last night! Got down to 70! I hate winter!!!!!! Rub it in rub it in . Thanks a lot.
evilone Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 its 53 here and looking like its gonna rain again plus there are talks of water spouts and snow tornados tomorrow when did i move outta california and into tornado ally?
Modellpularn Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 We had lots of snow maybe a month ago, but it melted away, so now it's raining most of the time. But I guess I have to switch to the winter wheels with studded tires. I plan to go to my "summer house" on Sunday, to see if it's still in one piece. A friend that lives up around that area told me the landscape looked like a winter postcard. I'll need those snow tires up there!
BigGary Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Here in Ol' Virginny, Sunday 42, Monday 71, Tuesday 53 and rain. No rain Wedneaday. just can't figure out what to do. After Christmas I'm moving to North Texas. Colder than Virginny on the Red River. Glad to see the Bug is snug. Global Warming????! Yeah, Right! Gary

LVZ2881 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 we got 5 inches of that white stuff here in Vegas on monday...it melted tuesday, and we got 2 more today with it still snowing. My house used to look like Jairus when I lived up in Salem, and I thought I got away from that stuff here!!!
Fuel Coupe Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Its a bit of a treat for us to have snow. we get it about once every ten years and NEVER before Christmas. But here is is last week 4 inches and it stuck.. Had a snowball fight with my son and some of the neighborhood rufians..
Pete J. Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 did California fall into the ocean yet? Dave West coast version - Did the rest of the US fall into the Atlantic yet?
LVZ2881 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 They just canceled schools here in Vegas because of the snow for tomorrow for the first time in 29 years!!!!!!! they actually have truckers chaining up, on the freeway, downtown!!!! this is insane!!!!!!
BigGary Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 (edited) Let's see. Snow in Vegas, Up North freezing to death, no power, downed power lines, trees blocking the road, snow in New Orleans last week. You say its caused by global WARMING!? I don't think so-o-o! In 1975 they said we were headed for another Ice Age. I fact, someone said that recently. gary Edited December 18, 2008 by BigGary
Cornpatch Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 You ought to live in Iowa. We live under the principal, give it 15 minutes and the weather will change. You never know from day to day, if your going to need the snowblower or the lawnmower. Jeff
PatRedmond Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 3 inches of snow Wednesday here near Detroit. Saw 2 2008 Challengers driving in the snow....... No big deal for us hearty types up here.
Guest 66dragfreak Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I live about an hour north of VWDave and we're bracing for the storm that hit Vegas yesterday. We're only supposed to get a few inches here though which is better than what they are prediciting down around Dave's neck of the woods. All I can say is I'm glad this is my last winter here in New York. I've had enough of this stuff already and it's not even Christmas yet. On top of that, another big storm is predicted for Sunday and another for Christmas Eve.....boy, I can't wait!
PatRedmond Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Expecting 6 - 8 inches with drifting here today...... PROBABLY going to cancel the Downriver MCC Christmas shindig.....or at least MY participation.

We're only supposed to get a few inches here though which is better than what they are prediciting down around Dave's neck of the woods. Word on the street is about 6-8", maybe a smidge more; I put the "mean wheels" and snow tires on the missus' Jetta today and gassed up the snowblower...we're ready. (pic from a couple of winters ago, but you get the idea)
Pete J. Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Actually very cold for SoCal. Mid-thirties. Woke up this morning to frost on the neighbor hood roofs. Palm trees and frost. Something you don't see very often.
evilone Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 yha im agreeing with the whole global warming stuff. If it looks like B.S.,smells like B.S.,and comes outta someones mouth sounding like B.S. then it must be B.S. Actually if you go back in history around this time 1000 years ago it was recorded the london was in a "ice age".Then it was stated in the 50s-80s that the world under goes a global climate change ever 1000 years.Well im thinking it about time we go through one don't you?All this toilet talk of global warming is to make us as a human race SPEND MORE MONEY on stuff that will make us "GREENER".We are not in a global warming we are in a global climate change.Who knows california might be the next snow zone or another rainforest. All i know is when the "big' quake hits and california is seperated from the rest of the U.S. i have future beach front CHA CHING .
