I have some (unclear) memories of my first model in 1959. I am kinda thinking it was in the Mopar family. Is there any database with the release dates of the early kits ?

Thanks

Model Encyclopedia, a defunct site, was an excellent resource which contained more kit information than one could ask for. It was much more informative than Scalemates.

Thinking back to 1959 I don't think AMT, or what ever they were calling themselves at that time, or Revell did any 1/24th or 1/25th models of Chrysler products. JoHan may have had the only offerings at that time.

In 1959 Johan made kits of the current year Dodge and Plymouth. AMT/SMP made a '59 Imperial and Revell had an older year Chrysler New Yorker in 1/32 scale.

That was owned by David Cura who passed away last year. He was a member of the TSSMCC and NNL East Show Team. He was a great guy who passed way too young.

Here is a list of known Mopar plastic kits which would have been available in 1959, most of which have already been mentioned:

Revell/AMT      1/32        '55 Chrysler New Yorker 2dr hardtop

         "                  "           '56 Chrysler New Yorker 2dr hardtop

Premier             1/25?      '56 Plymouth Belvedere convertible

SMP                  1/25        '58 Imperial  (convertible only)

   "                         "          '59 Imperial  convertible

   "                         "          '59 Imperial 2dr hardtop

Johan                1/25        '59 Plymouth Fury 2dr hardtop

    "                        "           '59 Dodge Custom Royal 2dr hardtop

Palmer               1/32?      '59 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible

It's possible there were a few other Mopar kits available by Palmer or Premier for '59 or earlier but "details are sketchy"...........
