le mans Mazda 787b

built years ago right after kit was released. the sounds the 4 rotor engine makes put it in the top 5 best sounding cars in history. from the lumpy raspy idle to the top end scream it can be heard on you tube. check it out by entering Mazda 787b sounds. lots of video on there. the only Japanese manufactured car to win le mans.

Very impressive model, Ken - it was the FIRST japanese car that won Le Mans and the ONLY one with a Wankel (rotary) engine.

In recent past, Toyota has won the last 4 races there: 2018-2019-2021 and 2021

Very  nice model......what colors did you  use for the orange and green. Got one of these to do myself.

thanks Rich, sorry I can't remember the paint names or brands. model was built nearly 30 yrs. ago.

Very well done, superb build! Friends who I've been to Le Mans with were part of the team out on the circuit as 'pit signallers' who would advise the pits by short wave radio of the team car's position on each lap of the 9 mile circuit. They also worked for Jaguar when they won the great race in later years.

That's OK Ken.  I did the Hasegawa of this car about the same time. I used  Testors flourescent green and orange. The orange was OK right over the orange plastic but the green had to be done over white. With all the masking and the fact the flourescent wouldn't do decals without clear coat made this one tedious paint job. I have the Tamiya in my stash and was just wondering if there was an easier way. Guess I will just have to suffer. I admire yours because I know first hand all the work that went into it.
