Straightliner59 Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 That transmission is looking great! I love doing that kind of stuff!

absmiami Posted May 26, 2023 Author Posted May 26, 2023 Trans cover made from Evergreen strip and drilled for some .020 Master Club resin 3d printed bolts
absmiami Posted May 26, 2023 Author Posted May 26, 2023 I realized that Evergreen rod is not always accurately sized - the .020 rod is actually .0225 - Plastruct’s .020 rod is dead on accurate and has a truer shape - its actually …. Round ! So im using the good stuff for the left facing trans side-plate …
absmiami Posted May 26, 2023 Author Posted May 26, 2023 Tranny almost finished - will leave the cover plate w the shifter housing as a seperate part - because Ferrari designed a seperate shifter housing to use on the early spyder corsas and GP cars … the white parts poking out of the sides of the clutch housing are interesting - the clutch arm/fork connects to the pedal through the opening in the housing - all of the earliest Ferraris were right hand drive - but Enzo was thinking ahead - he had Colombo - or whoever designed the transmission - design the trans with left and right openings in the housing - for a clutch assembly in left hand drive cars … Gramps and Andy Martin’s photos tell all … 2
Ian McLaren Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 Your work on the transmission is outstanding especially the netting, so precise. I just used some .030 evergreen rod for a switch panel and I agree with you on the shape. I wish someone here would step up and stock more Plastruct. Just one model railroad shop has any kind of significant selection.

Can’t decide … CAUTION When I tried to open the doors and replace with brass doors on my scratchbuilt Barchetta disaster struck. If you open the doors, I recommend you reinforce the body with brass wire in the week areas. Or put in a floor pan tied to the rear buckhead. Or solidly attach the interior bucket to the body. absmiami Posted May 30, 2023 Author Posted May 30, 2023 Blew the doors off well - just the driver’s side door - the casting is very thick - it ate my UMM saw - so i removed the lower half of the door but managed to remove the top half w some excitement - the bottom half of the door was made fr some renshape - glued bits and peices of Evergreen along the door jam and slowly recovered a reasonable door gap … 1
