Polishing done. Still has the slightest bit of orange peel texture, but I can live with that. Having no clear coat I could not get too carried away. The depth in the reflection is much better and clearer, so im happy with that improvement.

And BMF applied. Onto the home stretch now.

Another fabulous creation, Luke!  I'd sign up to watch a WIP from you about polishing paint finishes - especially how you do it right up to trim pieces and tricky curves.  Very well done!

Thanks Brain. Very happy I managed capture the 90's street machine style. Its my favourite era of Aussie Street Machine car culture.

I will have to think about it, to see if I could show and explain the polishing process I use. Next build on the bench I will see if I can piece something together.

Next on the bench, bringing this one back for completion.

Need to get the interior prepared and ready for paint, after thats done the Body needs a full wet sand and polish.

Wet sanding done, wont bore you with that process.

Tricky to get photos of this one. Camera trips out taking pictures of this particular paint job, it wants to over expose which makes the pearl pigments look like a heavy flake

I used the God Hand 10mm and 2mm sanding sponges 4000-10000. 10mm is used for overall blocking of the open flat surfaces and 2mm for corners and crevices.

Also got the interior components prep'd and 1500 Gray Surfacer applied.

If your are observant you will notice I removed the head rest from the Hoddy Design resin seats.

Next one back to the bench.

IMG20250731151401.jpg.1a9bc260cbd2676390cd50b1eba72076.jpg

Started it 2 year ago.

Gathered up all the parts. Time to do work and get it completed.

Question is do I go with my trademark colours black with red interior combo or black interior as it doesnt have the wire wheels 🤔

So after getting 5 stalled builds completed, time to start a couple new ones.

Bit of a back story to this one. I went to trade school back in the late 90's with guy who a had HJ Sandman panel van. So I will start with this kit and build it inspired by how I remember it.

And ole mate @Zippi  was asking when im going to do a pro street. So dug this kit out it, sort of close enough to a pro street. Aussie style burnout car 😁

Will be back soon with some mock ups.

Quick wheel mock up for the Pano.

IMG20250804163653.jpg.6ab4f43c7903427071598e9055767066.jpg

I remember the 1:1 inspiration having Dragway Indy wheels.

So I purchased these similar wheels from an online vendor back before I had my own 3D printer. But I will print another set as I can set my printer to produce a much better quality.

Applied a check coat of surfacer to both and done some proper mockups to see where things are at.

Not liking this oob mockup.

So the plan is transform it to 80's-90's pro street, engine swap, change the wheels and stretch the rear wheel arch, adjust the stance. And a few other modifications, but more on those when I get to it.IMG20250805010102.jpg.3f75e3830634c8871480dfdaae67de05.jpg

Panel Van stance is close to where I would like it. If anything the front will be raised a smidge.

This will be a pretty much oob build. Just wheels and some added details.

So much fun being able to build the Aussie cars.

Pretty kewl looking Pano Luke.  That's a lot of engine sticking out of the hood on that other car.  Daddy like 😊

As always thanks for your comments Bob.

The Pano will be a simple clean build, wheels and paint will be the standout features.

😄 If I can get my idea's to become a reality with the LJ Torana, it will be rad.

Body prep work pretty much done on the HJ Holden Pano

Scribed the door lines, lower front window trim, tailgate and tail light surround trim. Scribed and flushed the fuel cap door, shaved the door locks and rear side marker lights.

And first round of 1500 pink surfacer applied.

That 1500 pink primer looks Awesome Luke.  Yup,  we'd call it a GM Holden Sedan Delivery.  But...no matter what its called its a Bad Boy.
