chris chabre Posted January 25, 2022 Author Posted January 25, 2022 Awesome! first thing you need to do is to get rid of the front spring, then it'll sit right haha 2
afx Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 I went on the finish my '61 Falcon gasser but really liked this picture of it in progress. 2

It's funny, my dad owned a few Falcons when I was growing up. Nothing exciting just 4-door, straight-6 sedans - I hated them. Then one day I saw my neighbors '63 all black Sprint fastback and that changed everything I thought about Falcons! I've come to appreciate all the models since. 1

Ive had my 65 Comet for 26 years, because my father has one, he also had a 65 Falcon that was becoming our family drag car. I really dug your Falcon build. Edited January 26, 2022 by chris chabre 1 1
Kit Karson Posted January 26, 2022 Posted January 26, 2022 @chris chabreYou only shared a few of your mockups with me over on fb, Brother! Watching you share your mix of parts & pieces makes me feel right at home looking over your shoulder. As others have commented, fulfilling what you see in your mind's eye and following the mod's made so far on each & every one of your mockups shows a survive case of HotRoditis! I see a Hot Rod Gathering Diorama in your future... a work in progress as a whole-life's art achievement. Much like a model train landscape, remember the corner hobby shop would have a small one on display. -KK 1
chris chabre Posted January 26, 2022 Author Posted January 26, 2022 sat down for an hour and threw together a few last night. The model A is a drag city casting sitting on narrowed monogram woodie fenders. I have to find smaller front tires that fit those front wheels. the 29 roadster will be patterned off an actual car I want to build to race. my personal goal is 250 mph on the salt. Id also like to run El mirage in Socal and Loring Air Force base in Maine with it. My folks live 30 minutes away from the base. The Prowler is my attempt to make a Prowler cool...by throwing away everything but the body and then modifying that to make it sleek. I started making my detail list to nail down specifics on each kit. I have a few more I want to layout when I get some time
chris chabre Posted January 26, 2022 Author Posted January 26, 2022 thank you Kit! both you and RRR have been inspirations for me through the years!!! Mock up is definitely my favorite part since I'm not building hot rods for a living anymore. My head is full of designs and ideas, this is how I get them out 1

Mini tubbed the Vicky, put in some blue windows and started blocking my Scott Colmer 40 coupe body as well. my goal? no idea to be honest. I might have the perfect rims for your Tubbed Vickie: Edited January 26, 2022 by Kit Karson 1

These all look really good, Chris man..... It's very important to write down what all your visions for each kit are. If you're like me, you forget what all you wanted to accomplish!

I reorganized the cabinet so I can fit more last night and moved my Fridge pickup over to my desk. I have a blown FE enroute for it now. might dig into my Model As and Ts next. 2
chris chabre Posted January 29, 2022 Author Posted January 29, 2022 (edited) I had gotten this near complete Garlits dragster in a lot of diecasts I bought.. I decided the motor would be perfect for a hot rod so I grabbed an uncut 3 window and pieced it together to mimic something that would run in maybe A/gas. rear wheels and tires are from the Mazmanian willys. Ill be changing up the front wheels and tires. still have a long way to go with the details Edited January 29, 2022 by chris chabre 1
chris chabre Posted February 2, 2022 Author Posted February 2, 2022 Dennis sent me over some wheels and tires for the Vicky. Just need to lock in the engine. Most likely a FE Ford and a 4 or 5 speed 1

mrm Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Definitely good looking wheel tire combo. What did you do to fit them under the rear fenders?

It looks like he used your trick of the 32 frame from the Revell A kits mated with the 32 fenders based on the molded in spreader bar up front.
Dennis Lacy Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 The Vicky mock up looks killer sitting on those wheels and tires. Happy to donate them to a good cause. ? 1
Project510 Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Fantastic collection! I should punch myself for not grabbing those when i worked at HobbyTownUSA back in the day. We had them sitting on the shelf for what seemed like years. I always passed them up! Cant wait to see the builds! 1

I havent been able to get back to it yet honestly to finish it
