Mike C. Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 (edited) Are there any good aftermarket 5 lug, 5 slots out there in 1/25? Like the aluminum looking Americans from the 70s. They could be resin or from a kit. Edited January 15, 2022 by Mike C.
espo Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 The AMT Studebaker Avanti, the Revell Starski and Hutch Ford Torino both had nice Ansen Sprint style wheels. They are chromed in the kits but that is easily change.
Mike C. Posted January 8, 2022 Author Posted January 8, 2022 Any aftermarket? Those kits are a little pricy just to get those wheels.
Fat Brian Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 Fireball makes a set, they're very good quality. 2
89AKurt Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 I will give a shout out to Fireball Modelworks too. Used a set for a project, but did not use his tires (I was evaluating my stash here), which look really good too. He has great customer service, I asked for one for the spare, and he did it.
Mike C. Posted January 8, 2022 Author Posted January 8, 2022 Thanks. I found a set but they said 1/24 so I thought they would be a little big for the tires I was using. I didn't see the Starski and Hutch set. I do have to order some other stuff from him. Anybody know if he is up and running again?
Mike C. Posted January 8, 2022 Author Posted January 8, 2022 (edited) I also see the AMT Dodge Lil' red express truck has some nice looking 5 slots with it. Edited January 8, 2022 by Mike C.
Keavdog Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 (edited) Ridge Runner Pinto comes with these (sorry for the fuzzy pic - screen shot from a video) Edited January 8, 2022 by Keavdog
Mike C. Posted January 9, 2022 Author Posted January 9, 2022 I think I might go with the Fireball Red Tomato slots. Thanks guys.
Casey Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 Avoid the Revell S&H 5 slots, as the lug nuts are clocked awkwardly on two of them. The AMT 5-slots, found in the '32 Vicky, Studebaker Avanti (and probably others) are okay, but 14" IIRC, and you have to be aware of sinkholes in the spokes. IIRC the center tap is a bit on the tall side, too. 14 hours ago, Tabbysdaddy said: The AMT 69 Corvair also has a set. Those are nice but not quite the same style as those in Mike's image, plus, the Corvair's wheels are 13" diameter.

The Revell S&H ones are pretty shallow also, IIRC...as were the ones in the MPC Lil Red Express Dodge pickup. Sounds like the OP was looking for deeper dish wheels.
sfhess Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 There are some nice-looking ones in the current issue of the AMT 65 Riviera kit.
