Off The Beaten Path Build!

Not sure if this is the correct area for this one or not, so please move if need be. I have a few models in the corner of my stash that were given to me along the way as Christmas and birthday gifts. This is one of them! Doing this one pretty much box stock. So far very fun!  No mods at all! Sometimes ya gotta step outside the comfort zone!
 

Engine is almost finished, fenders and chassis is painted along with the very gold parts and a little Alclad on the front and rear suspension parts to finish it out. The gold I found at the local hardware store, the purple I found at Auto Zone. The purple has a terrible nozzle on the can so I decanted a small jar full and air brushed the color on. It went on very nicely followed up with two coats of clear. Very nice color! More to come as I do more assembling.

I like it!  That gold paint looks good too.  I have this one, and the Creepy-T in my stash (to be built someday).

That is some gold! I was pleasantly surprised when I did a little test with it! It was exactly what I was looking for. Wife says she’s stealing the rest for her crafts!

Progressing along on this one. Fun little build but parts either fit like throwing a hotdog down a hallway or don’t fit at all requiring modification! Oh well who doesn’t love a challenge!

And every time I look at that gold paint it looks just as if those parts were made from real gold.

Thanks Peter! That is some really cool gold! Found it at the local hardware store and thought I would give it a try. I’m glad I did! It was exactly what I was looking for. That normally only happens for me about 50% of the time when trying new paint!

Well done Dave , it's not goofy it's just different . . . I like it !  I agree that gold paint looks great and I also like that purple too , not surprised you had to decant it . Rustoleum has the worst nozzles ever so I avoid there paint whenever possible .

Thanks Bob! I was looking for paint that was as close to the box art as I could get. That Rust-Oleum purple fit the bill but, yes you are correct, that nozzle was like a watering can! I was surprised at the dry time though. Very quick. Any other products I’ve used from Rust-Oleum seemed to stay tacky for days. That is the big reason I’ve always avoided them. At least bad nozzles I can get around by decanting and pulling out the air brush.
