So I started out with the trans from the chev engine, cut it free from the bell housing, and trimmed the tail shaft off. So it has some of the basic shape as the Lasalle but it’s not close enough. So let’s cut off that shifter tower. A little help from my Stone Age CAD. And we get the rough shape of the bottom cover. Add the tail shaft housing from the flathead trans and is starting to take shape.

That's looking the part. Nice replica.

Thank you, I’ve done a fair bit of hacking and slashing to try to get the approximate shape correct.
some filler will help correct the shape hopefully a little more, it won’t be a perfect replica, but it will be close enough to keep me satisfied.

The trans is definitely starting to look like a ‘37 La Salle. I love all the plastic shrapnel in the background. 😁

Thanks Dennis, we will see once I start throwing putty at it if it looks any better lol.

I have a little metal tub on my desk full of assorted off cuts, sometimes you only need a little piece to make it work. 🤘🏻
next is to make the adapter plate look a little better.

An update finally! Took some time on my keyster instead of off of it lol. Threw some putty on the trans finally to get it closer to my approximation of a Lasalle. It’s rough, really rough but it will work for what I intend. Got some rough filing and shaping done and finished with a brush coat of Tamiya primer to match the engine block. Once it all cures I could not resist a mock-up in the frame.

Now that all that prelim work is done I can go back to finishing boxing the frame rails and possibly get the final ride height setup.

I’ll be picking away at the engine as well, I’m still looking for a suitable candidate for plug wires, the kit ones are ok but I’d like to find a cloth braided type substitute.

I really like your style Bill. That engine’s coming along fine.

For the braided plug wires, have you or your friends any old fly line? Some of that stuff was perfect and could hold craft paint or a sharpie pen for color ... maybe old backing line for 1/8 scale

Thank you mike, I’ll look into the old fishing line.

Well it’s been a minute since we left this. Back in August I made a deal on some rough 1/8 parts, mostly just frames and bodies, no suspension or engine parts (that were usable) well they finally arrived on Tuesday and I’ve been working with them to see what was usable, junk and what would help someone else get a project going.
so first step was to wash all the parts, they had a layer of someone else’s dust 🤢. Then it was to split out the parts into separate cars. So with another parts lot I got back in the spring that was most likely from a big t I got this assembled. Managed to get two wheels salvaged, the other 2 are rough, previous builder must have used a 1/2 tube of gloo on each wheel, the melt was incredible.
to complete  this mess I will need two front drums, two wheels and some suspension pieces, steering and the like, but wait there’s more, all this 1/8 scale action has gotten me to finally finish boxing in the frame for the the original build!
