landman Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 The friend who bought my Mustang had restored a 1965 Mercury pickup to look like the one his grandfather once owned. I have decided to replicate it. 6

It is one of the resin guys.

hct728(Bob) Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Neat project! Love the look of the truck, you should do a before and after - I'm starting two myself, using both versions of the Mercury conversion kit with both a long and short wheelbase truck. just got finished making the wheels steer and rotate. Using the 4x4 parts on the short wheelbase flareside 3

landman Posted February 9, 2022 Author Posted February 9, 2022 Interesting how you slap some seemingly unrelated parts together and they start looking like something else. 3
hct728(Bob) Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Nice work on the engine and chassis! I like the labels, neat little details add a lot to realism 1 1
landman Posted February 10, 2022 Author Posted February 10, 2022 Preassembled whaterver I could in preparation for paint.
hct728(Bob) Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 (edited) Interesting how the 1:1 is a flashy two-tone yet lacks the chrome trim. I've been thinking of removing the trim on one of mine, most likely the Flareside, though it's a bit of work> Then there's the interior, trim changes might be welcome, I did a radio delete dash once, again a bit of work. Nice how yours is coming together so fast, keep up the good work! Edited February 10, 2022 by hct728(Bob)
landman Posted February 13, 2022 Author Posted February 13, 2022 Threw some paint at it. Of course there was some crazing.A second coat to the door panel seems to have helped. 1
landman Posted February 16, 2022 Author Posted February 16, 2022 Working on the engine compartment and the interior. I am, debating whether to brush the white or mask evrything again and shoot it. Of course, I would shoot the hood. 1
Zippi Posted February 16, 2022 Posted February 16, 2022 That's looking pretty sharp. All the detail work looks pretty nice. 1
landman Posted February 18, 2022 Author Posted February 18, 2022 Cutting a corner. My friend's truck has the 300. There is a 240 (practically identical) in the 1966 Moebius, however there is none available anywhere near here and since I am building it for myself, it will have the 352, even if it is the wrong color. 1
landman Posted February 18, 2022 Author Posted February 18, 2022 So I masked and painted the white. True to form, the masking tape reacted with the Tamyia red. Have I told you guys, I hate painting? 1
landman Posted February 19, 2022 Author Posted February 19, 2022 After foiling and an application of clear. 1
