I wasn't sure what truck should I build and I came up an Aussie Mack R685 with tandem log jinker like in the attached picture.

Parts list:

amt:

  • Mack R685ST

Auslowe:

  • Tandem log jinker
  • Mack Spyder wheels (which are to wide)
  • Mack R sun visior
  • Dual air filter with Mack R conversion kit
  • Mack R bull bar
  • Mack round step fuel tank
  • Mack R head light conversion
  • Mack R RHD dash board
  • Mack R air tank
  • Intercooler conversion for Mack R

I think I have every think together to start with the build

Very nice! Maybe needs an inter cooler too. Looking forward to seeing your project progress.

I was think about to use the intercooler engine from a Cruiseliner but I'll stay with the kit engine

Auslowe does an inter cooler conversion in case you change your mind. Love the r series of that era.

Here the first picture of this build. The Mack 6 spoke rims WD31 from Auslowe are too wide for this truck. I have to get some out of the Ertl/amt  Mack DM/R Series or get some from AITM.

Nice setup ! The log trailer is much improved over the peerless

Suggestion for the wide wheels, could you use the wheel backs from a paystar instead of the auslow inner ones for more space ?

I try to reduce the width of the inner wheel back about 4 mm. Hope it works

All air line fittings are now installed and first layer of primer attached. Next will be the wiring job on the frame and the jinker. To be continued

I ha e decided to go with an intercooler set from Auslowe.

I found some  other Auslowe Mack rims that fit. They have the same number WD43 like the bigger ones. It seems that they are wrong labeled. Next will be a repainting of the cab with the slightly brighter yellow of the hood.

I found some rims that work great for the Mack. Next will be adding wires for air and diesel lines.
