More puzzle pieces. Predictably, the longer V-10 engine is a tight fit fore/aft, and also between the suspension control arms, because I want to get it low enough in the chassis to use the stock hood.

Here, I recessed the radiator quite a bit, shaving off the fan shroud on the other side and taking about 25 percent off the bottom. Then I shaved the top of the rectangular recess so the header tank  nests in there, and the radiator is pretty much right up against the a/c condenser (which I don't need, because racecar ?) but it does make a nice bit of structure to support the radiator.

I probably freed up a couple mm, which is just enough.

Just a thought on the spacing of the radiator. As you mentioned you will not be needing the A/C condenser, maybe remove it and mount the radiator on the grill side of the core support to get a little more engine clearance.

Good thought for sure, but it worked out fine.

Put the engine in and I'm happy with the way it sits. Much Dremeling required on the top of the transmission to facilitate! The Carrera GT's engine has really long intake runners that I had to sand down considerably to get the hood to fit. I still need to rig the cold air induction tubes from the plenum to holes in the radiator support.

I repurposed a fire canister to make a dry sump tank...it still needs a cap!

A little more progress. Rigged up a cold air induction setup with styrene rod and some heat shrink tubing, shaved a bunch of emblems off the body as well as doing general cleanup, and roughed out a fuel cell with .030 sheet around the fuel tank. It hangs a little low, so I'll trim it a bit. This is a GIANT fuel cell, so the owner obviously intends to do some endurance racing.

Underside is none too pretty. Let's just say you'd need a prop shaft with a couple of extra U-joints to make everything line up. ?

Shot some color today...Tamiya rattle can Park Green (TS-35) over Tamiya light gray Fine Surfacer primer. Still contemplating second color. I think I'll strip the chrome off the bumpers, and shoot them and the window trim a metallic gray.

Yes, for sure! Gumby Green. ? (Only those of a certain age will get that reference!)

 Euro influence for sure, and I think I'll continue the theme with clear yellow headlights. The body was dry enough to handle, so I plopped it on the chassis. I really like the "Christmas colors" contrast between the red cam covers and green body.

Some progress on the front end. I'm wondering if others who built this Impala had trouble fitting the headlights and turn signals? I kept sanding and sanding and the lights wouldn't fit into the recesses! Problem solved for the turn signals, as I just got rid of them and Dremeled a couple of slots for brake cooling ducts. Made a front spoiler out of .030 styrene, and will do a lip spoiler in back. It looks kinda cool with just the single blade bumper, as the lower extensions wouldn't work with the spoiler.

Working furiously on exterior paint, and going through a TON of masking tape. I hope to be more or less finished with it in a couple days.

Calling it done; I only have to add the outside rearview mirrors. The scheme turned out a little Lotus-y with the second main color, Tamiya Titan Gold acrylic. I'm really pleased with the result, not your typical Impala!!

Weather looks better tomorrow for some outside pics for Under Glass. Thanks for looking!

Thank you, Anton! Hmm, it would be fun to make a Corkscrew diorama. ?

It was really fun to build this and just riff on the paint scheme and other details. I took some photos outside, so I'll have it Under Glass later this morning.

Yes, Pokey next for sure, and then maybe the Blockheads!

I used Porsche 911 mirrors, but sanded down the stalk part so they look a little more bullet-y.
