A most incredible piece of heretofore unknown AMT kit history...their 1915 Chevrolet Royal Mail Roadster Trophy Series kit proposal (aka "Ghost Kit")

While this kit is interesting, I doubt AMT would have had success selling it.

I agree, Bob.

In the context of 1966 when the proposal was developed, it might have sold just OK in its first production but can't believe it would have had a history of good selling reissue runs afterwards.

And given the various serious issues AMT Corporation was facing in late 1966/early 1967 (as detailed in several posts earlier in this thread), I just don't believe it got even a bit of serious consideration by AMT management as a viable product offering.   Still, sure would have been coolllllll!!!!!   TB

PS - thanks guys for revisiting this thread; I don't think it got a lot of exposure first time around and in the history of AMT, this really is pretty big news to have just broadly surfaced over fifty-seven years later.

Ironically, a friend stopped by the other week to give me this book, because he thought that my library could stand some improvement. First edition, first printing, 1981. I've been reading it for the last several days, it has stood the test of time well, with almost all of the tips and tricks still relevant.

Interesting, I never seen this book before.

That book was later updated and divided into two volumes.  The revised book included a section on aftermarket items, then still in their infancy compared to military and railroad subject matter.

LOL!   I know your skill sets far exceed those outlined in that book.

Actually, I've had a copy since it was relatively new and it added greatly to my adolescent skills.  I later acquired both volumes [as mentioned by Mark].  And, I occasionally dig them out and review.

Good score, my friend.

The updated book set also had much better quality of printing of Dennis' photos...TB
