Brian Austin Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 Going through a stack of old issues of the fantastic Narrow Gauge and Short Line Gazette, I came upon this review. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Pretty cool. Wish I worked in that scale, so I could justify buying the Atlantis repop of the tanker.
Oldcarfan27 Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 (edited) My son bought the tanker because he liked the subject. For 1/48, They're actually bigger than you'd think. Now if someone were to come up with a 50s Pete to go with the tanker, you'd be well on your way to creating the rig from "Duel". Edited June 13, 2022 by Oldcarfan27

Right, but sure wish Revell would have done a Pete back then too! I'm assuming every re issue they were molded in different colors? Have a red and a green KW, not sure which issue year each is.
RSchnell Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 I have a couple of the 1996 reissues of the Honest John missile with transporter which is the old KW. I've never measured it but I think it's closer to 1/40 scale than 1/48. The scale isn't mentioned on the box or the instructions.
Brian Austin Posted June 14, 2022 Author Posted June 14, 2022 What caught my eye in the review was that (A) the kits were produced in Germany, and (B) they were distributed by Replicas & Miniatures. Re-creating the original Bekins moving van would be a welcome addition. https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/revell-1403-kit-48-1956-kenworth-825-509421367
stavanzer Posted June 14, 2022 Posted June 14, 2022 (edited) Bill if you build 1/48 scale early 1950's Jets, you can use the tanker for a diorama with any F-86, F-89, F-100, F101, or even a B-29. Edited June 14, 2022 by stavanzer
chuckyr Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Too bad they can't find the molds of the Fruehauf van.
Pete68 Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 Here’s my Revell Kenworth’s with Don Mills wheels there currently on my O Scale layout. The Green Northern Pacific I hand painted and added the decals
Brian Austin Posted August 7, 2023 Author Posted August 7, 2023 I first picked up some wheels and parts from Don Mills' shop 20 years ago or more. I think he's still selling. I've always wondered where he got his tires from. 1
leafsprings Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 Your vintage KW's look great Lee, really like the wheel upgrade! Strato models is working on a high-quality vintage KW in 1/25 resin. Should be available soon! Slowly but surely, we are filling the voids. 1

Thanks for the complement I really enjoyed building these guys and yes we are filling gaps I’m really liking round 2 helping out on the vintage kits now we can build with ease knowing we don’t have to break the bank or wait for years for and kit to pop up at a Model show we got it easy these days.
