Trip Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 (edited) I used the revel 93 cobra and the monogram 89 Gt convertible to create this car. Wheels I had CAD and then printed to 1:24 scale 16". Boyd Coddington 5 star billet. I cut the bottom of the convertible off at the bottom edge of the molding on sides sand back bumper. Then cut the smooth cobra bottom off. Added the GT ground affects to the cobra. Edited August 19, 2022 by Trip 5
Trip Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 (edited) Thanks man. I was 25 and car poor. I spent so much in engine mods and wheels and tires I couldn't afford to get the Harwood 3"cowl professionally painted. So I decided to dress up the primer??♂️. I wouldn't do that today and I DO have another hood almost ready for the red paint to have a non 25yr old car poor version. ,? Edited August 19, 2022 by Trip
Trip Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 Thank you! It's my first scratch and bash aside from adding a trim molding out something to a truck kit.
Crager Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Sweet build! I had 2 fox body mustangs a notch back and a convertible. Miss them both! 2
Oldcarfan27 Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 What a great idea. Using a Cobra with convertible GT parts to build a GT coupe. I've got a few of both and should try this conversion. Watching.
Trip Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 Well it's finished aside from the fully red hood still in the final phases. If you decide to do it I'm happy to offer any info. It's really not too bad of a conversion. The back bumper is the hardest part. That's no truly defined body molding line to follow so going super slow and extra careful when cutting them both off is off utmost importance of you get it even slightly at an angle, the 3 way radius of the corners of the bumpers are a nightmare to reign back into proper shape. Took me 4 days to straighten it out. But I'm also me to scratch building. 1
spencer1984 Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Excellent work, everything fits together like it came that way! 1
Crager Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Just looked at it again really nice detail on the engine and compartment, ride height is perfect! 1

Had to do some work for the ride height but nothing major. These kits sit higher than scale stock straight out of the box. I appreciate the compliment..
NYLIBUD Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 Great job.Always liked the Fox bodies. This is a build i finished awhile ago.

Maindrian Pace Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 Very nice work, convincing conversion to the Cobra body. Nostalgic too, so many of them had a Saleen wing and a cowl hood back in the day. 1

That's the only difference between my real car and this replica I didn't have a cervini. Mine was stock. Thank you for the kind words. Lengthy build for a first time scratch builder.
