While I’m working on the Midget I picked up this wagon.
It’s a curbside kit and I’ve got plans for it. Adding a big block Chev with tri power to it and going to build it in my favorite style, 70s street machine.

Started with cutting out the molded in reset end and exhaust. Have the chassis roughed in and ordered some suspension parts from Shapeways.

The interior is going to get cut apart, the door card moldings are horrendous and I am thinking of replacing the front bench seat or maybe trying to cut the center out and make a foldable center arm rest… I’ll have to see how a floor shifter fits in with the bench seat.
The plan is to shave of the body trim and the Chevrolet lettering front and back, the molding for the lettering leaves a bit to be desired.
Got my goodies from Shapeways and am very impressed with the detail. I’m going to have to narrow the rear end some and fit the front upper and lower a arms.
This one’s gonna be fun.

I like the first picture the best bu both are really nice. Great stance…

Thanks, I think I do too.

Got the rear end narrowed down and found that the axle housing is hollow, so I can run a rod through it. Will make the alignment of the disk brakes much easier. The front a-arms are going to fit, although I’m not sure I’m going to have enough room for a set of disks up front, more fiddling to do yet.

The scoop would depend on whether or not it was needed to clear Carbs./ Injectors, or Blower. I think the second and third scoops intake is high enough above the hood surface to catch good clean air flow.

So if I can keep the carbs low enough you’d go with no scoop?

Im leaning that way myself.

Ultimately the design is your choice and should be what you want it to be. My suggestion was based on the basic appearance of your wagon. With the large slicks and the fact that you were looking at hood scoops my impression was you were building a dedicated drag car. Should you be building a street drive vehicle, and everything fits under the hood then forgoing the hood scoop might be the way to go. Should you need just a little extra room then maybe a low Cowl Induction type hood would give you the extra clearance without standing out too much. You're putting some great looking suspension parts on this along with the big block you mentioned. May be a little hard to keep the induction system on a big block in this small of a body under the stock hood, so something may have to change with the hood. Build it your way to look the way you want it to look.

Okay, I think that the consensus is no scoop.
The big block is wired and plumbed, so it’s going to come down to if it fits or not.

Looking good! ? I am almost always in favour of no scoops on street vehicles, but like others have said…it is whatever you want to do with it.

Nice job detailing that engine. Looks like the manifold is a high rise tri-power style. Don’t know if I’ve ever seen one.

Yeah it’s actually for a Mopar… don’t tell anyone:)

Good looking carbs. The valve covers look like a different design than most big block Chevy's?

Yeah the valve covers came from a really poor quality GTO kit I started. Not the best detailing on them but believe it or not, they are probably the best parts that were in that box.

Looking mighty fine. If the carbs fit under the hood and it's a street vehicle, I'd go with no scoop. But you are the artist and it's your canvas. -)
