I have started fabricating the front suspension set up by swapping out the stock I beam  with independent front suspension.  To get the stance I want I've mocked up some crude spindles which will be hidden by the wheels. Here you can see the piece's of the original cross member cut from the chassis 20220909_225604.thumb.jpg.bf219734b68054d0eddf683f6396f734.jpg

For the rear l have also removed the original cross member and am fabricating my own set up with lengths of sprue. I'll be using the rear axle, springs and shocks pictured. 20220911_232429.thumb.jpg.83e364ca57bb441ac9e81241249cbb74.jpg

Thanks guys, this is my first WIP post on this forum. I'll be making regular step by step post's as this build progresses. Again, thanks for watching.

Cheers, David.

Progressing on to engine placement now. I'm hoping to use the Micky Thompson built 'attempt 1' Pontiac Tempest 4 cylinder supercharged engine which I had pre built years ago. It will take a bit of work to make it fit. Wish me luck guys. ??images.jpeg.jpg.6ac10076403457a1d3d10d536bb8ed9a.jpg20220913_110609.thumb.jpg.7e35991b2ddc97d2f99c8764e1914d1a.jpg

FYI, The model in the first photo is not mine. I would hate to breach copyright. ?

I got the engine to fit with a few modifications. I shortened the bell housing and cut off the end shaft of the gearbox. I also removed the shaft between the blower and the air scoop and replaced the straight pipe headers with regular performance headers. 16630842657592181657764649548559.thumb.jpg.64ef176538c9a8ea0fbe741d477dccbe.jpg16630844519299122392002953266082.thumb.jpg.b317f4e23278663fb3e1c9b22b303756.jpg1663084391096690910139217122800.thumb.jpg.74772a20cf86f0bbce93e99b5847dc45.jpg

I cut open the firewall and sunk it back a little. It just needs some putty work on the gaps now. I made up a single forward engine mount and built it up until it all lined up. So that's the engineering finished. Next will be the wheels.

Time for an update guys. The wheels are Chevy rallies from the Monogram 78 El Camino kit which were given a splash of black wash. Tyres are from the parts box. I used the wheel backs from the 37 kit with styrene inner spacers to make them fit. The front sits a little higher than anticipated but looks OK. Rolling chassis done. Next will be the interior.

Cheers, David. ??20220915_102805.thumb.jpg.86af233c384475e770fc274a78ff3c63.jpg20220915_134632.thumb.jpg.a8e91cb5ddf3a1b0ee7a9b444b52e031.jpg20220915_174757.thumb.jpg.ee7ed1b1a6c8a345679f237d1ef30896.jpg20220915_175403.thumb.jpg.96a270d3cd311062e10588be2c8261c0.jpg20220915_175712.thumb.jpg.5e3c4a84c8b4874d7ce2c162fd00d6a7.jpg20220915_175145.thumb.jpg.26c7744c08e1340b38da903aff5feac2.jpg

Hi guys, the bad stance was caused by the front tracking being too wide. I've shortened the axle stubs now and it all sits how I wanted it to.20220916_002835.thumb.jpg.7fb58f209eb867eeaa21039050cf6a7c.jpg20220916_002927.thumb.jpg.f1cc6b100e0f0469dac4b36e458cb6c1.jpg

Hi guys, cab interior is finished. I painted it Hobby Color H37 wood brown over Tamiya ts46 light sand. I shaped some styrene sheet for the door card trim and glued them in. The dash was treated to some extra gauges and tacho. Every thing else, except for the door controls, are from the parts box. Next will be paint.

Cheers, David. ??20220916_190357.thumb.jpg.6acc98cb3858751e9495d777c4ec3e83.jpg20220916_190426.thumb.jpg.5ef3a76bfbd2a60178b131f04c4061bb.jpg20220916_191004.thumb.jpg.0940c8d4e883d26f74e45b8f6d60fddf.jpg20220916_191111.thumb.jpg.03e054de4007d9073337c589d77b67c1.jpg

Engine is installed with some difficulty lining up the custom exhaust. I also had to reinstate the intake manifold as the air scoop was touching the front fender. I used two bent pieces of sprue cut down to size to clear the fender. Body is painted but I'll keep that for final reveal.

Good work on the engine and exhaust installation.

Fitting and installing nonstandard parts is so much easier in 1:25 scale plastic than it is in full scale metal. :)
