spencer1984 Posted October 31, 2022 Posted October 31, 2022 For this year's Halloween-themed build, I went with the Packard from The Addams Family TV series. It started as Monogram's Packard Phaeton, and while a couple of details aren't quite right - I found out too late that the TV car had a longer wheelbase and a black interior - it was a good kit and enjoyable build. The wheels and hood ornament are 3D printed items I drew up, Thing's box was scratch built from balsa and craft sticks, and the horn is a modified Hallmark ornament. A full write-up of the build is available here, and as always comments/criticisms are welcome! With the other famous Spooky Family car of the era: 5
Dragline Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 That first shot has 1:1 written all over it. Truly captures their ride.
ea0863 Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 Another beautiful job Bill! And although I never saw Addams Family, the car is no less a stunner in its own right
TooOld Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 Pretty cool Bill ! Looks like a nice kit and your details are excellent !
Bainford Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 Neat build, Bill. Elegant, yet spooky. Well done.
stavanzer Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 Great Job. The Disc Wheels really alter the look of the car. You can see why those Discs were a popular upgrade back then. They make the car appear sleeker and more elegant. I really like the car.
spencer1984 Posted November 1, 2022 Author Posted November 1, 2022 Thanks, guys! 1 hour ago, TonyK said: Thing's box.....LOL Apparently Gomez coun't figure out how to get it into gear, fortunately he had a helper there! 39 minutes ago, stavanzer said: The Disc Wheels really alter the look of the car. I hadn't really thought about them much before starting this project, but as I was researching the design they really do look good on the 1:1 cars.
happy grumpy Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 A great looking car, great job on the details. The first photo is very convincing. I wish Revell would revive those old monogram kits of this series.
spencer1984 Posted November 2, 2022 Author Posted November 2, 2022 Thanks, guys! This was my first go at building one of Monogram's "The Classic..." series, all the good things I heard about them were true.
