New here, but lurking for a long time. Based upon a lot of positive feedback I figured I’d finally post. This is the marriage of the 1977 Amt Cruisin van with the F150 Super Stones Kit. There was a lot more scratch building than expected with the marriage (isn’t that always the case) and the axles needed widening. Wheels and tires are from Fireball, the roof rack and accessories are 1/24 radio control rock crawler bits from Amazon painted for additional realism, and several other parts bin items here and there and little light weathering. This was a fun although challenging build that definitely tested my skills along the way.  I’m truly humbled by what I see posted by all of you on here and thought I’d share. Thanks for looking!

Very nice! The subtle weathering is perfect on this model! The tires are especially realistic looking. Nice work and I look forward to seeing more models from you!

Wonderful job! That roof rack full of stuff is really something.

Thank you!  I think they packed it all!

Truly fantastic. There is a lot of hard work involved here and that is clear. The stowage and accesories are all well executed.

Well done and I know I speak for everyone when I say thanks for quitting lurking and participating.

Fantastic build! A 1:1 of that would be a whole lotta fun.

Thanks!  I've always been a fan of the factory Quadravans and 50's Napco conversions.  The 1:1 versions are tough to find today and very pricey!

Thanks for the comment!!  I'm a slow builder (maybe one or two a year) due to other responsibilities.  I came here for the inspiration, and am not disappointed!  Glad to be part of the group now.

Really well built and detailed, the tires are particularly convincing. great work on the scratch building.

Thank you!  Tires are from Fireball run through a little dry beige tile grout.  Gives a good "used" sandy appearance.

I'm happy to see new members post their work and knock it out of the park right out of the gate!

Great work!

I really appreciate it!  Was on a long hiatus from the hobby and just back during Covid.  Loving every minute of it!

I love this. You could do a tutorial on the roof rack and the load on it. Is that all scratch built?

Thanks for the comment!  I wish I could say that I scratch built the rack and the cargo, but I didn’t. The only scratch built item on the roof rack is the tarp, which is made out of Kleenex soaked in Elmer’s glue and then folded into shape and painted. The rack and accessories are actually 1/24 radio control rock crawler accessories which can be found on Amazon using some key words, “1/24 RC luggage” and “1/24 RC crawler accessories.”  You will be amazed at what is out there. With some painting, weathering, and clever hiding of the fasteners, you’d be amazed at how convincing these parts can be. Feel free to ask any other questions, I’ll help however I can although this was all new to me!
