Matt Bacon Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 The new small and rather nice XK-E Coupe from Airfix, launching a new 1/43 range with the Huayra and Chiron, and who can blame them? For most of you, this will not be a problem. For me, however: Easy to fix: Decals added and Citadel (Warhammer) 'ardcote for the glass: Interior painted, mostly Tamiya Flat Red and some Citadel Shade Red... And pop the dash in place: And yes, I noticed that I broke the gear shifter, so I fixed that! Last for tonight, the chrome is no longer a weird olive color... best, M.
Bainford Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 Interesting kit. I really like the colour of the seats. Looking forward to seeing more.
Bennyg Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 Awesome work! They look like great little kits. Ben
Bugatti Fan Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 Matt will do justice to this like all his builds! I like following his various forum threads. Incidentally Motobitz in the UK make a nice set of 3D printed wire wheels for this kit.
Matt Bacon Posted December 4, 2022 Author Posted December 4, 2022 Thanks, guys. Slow but steady progress: That's three parts (top, chassis, and exhaust/suspension). This is what I'm aiming for: https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/influx/features/first-jaguar-e-type/ Fantastic Motobitz 3D-printed wheels. Just got to figure out how to mask and paint the chrome rims and spokes... best, M. 2

Just got to figure out how to mask and paint the chrome rims and spokes... best, M. i saw a tip for painting one piece wheels in an old scale auto. the tip was to scribe around the rim if needed then paint the wheel part first. once the centre is dry use a little very thinned black paint around the outside of the rim so its fairly wet then brush paint the tyre. the thinners should stop the paint going onto the rim and give you a good clean edge and once the thinners evaporate the area with the thinned paint shoul settle down to match. I'm at work now but i think it was one of the sa tips and hints mags it was in. the article used tamiya acrylic paints and i seem to remember it said it didn't work with enamels
beeRS Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Good progress ?? Wow - those wheels! Can’t wait to see them painted.
